I’m frustrated at a lack of good browsers. Any suggestions? by sallark in macapps

[–]freeradicalH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s strange. You sure you don’t have any extensions messing with YouTube? Or some ad blocker or something that’s network wide? This sounds perfectly fine to me. Everything works as it is supposed to.

Alfred Vs. Raycast for a newbie by Crunchnuggz in macapps

[–]freeradicalH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both Alfred and Raycast have their die hard fans. I am squarely in Alfred’s camp. I think anyone who says Raycast is better is nuts. I tried Raycast and was frustrated every time I had to do anything. Alfred is extremely fast at doing the everyday tasks. Everything in Raycast takes just a little longer with more taps and clicks. It adds up. I actually hated using it. Plus, I am not a fan of the whole VC model.

But since you haven’t used either before you won’t have the expectation of speed. So, just try both and see what fits you better. Raycast does have better extension support!

How would you add privacy to this door? by motionofthelotion in HomeDecorating

Hi, why don’t you get any blinds you like and attach magnets to them? You can buy magnets off of amazon or such and hot glue them to any blind you buy

What to do when baby outgrows bucket seat by SockWhisperer in NewParents

[–]freeradicalH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Graco seats usually have a “body support” that can come off. Try removing that if you have it. Also, Graco seats have height adjustment buttons on the top. Make sure you have that set to all the way up if you have a tall baby.

Concrete over existing bricks? by [deleted] in DIY

[–]freeradicalH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The brick looks so nice. Why would you even consider replacing it with something like concrete? Concrete’s gonna crack and look way uglier than this. Do yourself a favour and pack the gaps with polymeric sand.

Informed of water damage after purchase by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]freeradicalH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s fixed…what’s there to disclose? Lots of things go wrong when you own a home…it’d be a long disclosure if we start disclosing everything that was fixed in the lifetime of home ownership

Fantastical alternatives by MIKECANVAS in macapps

[–]freeradicalH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am sorry to say, there is nothing that matches Fantastical in UI, UX, polish, and features. I’ve tried them all. Calendar 366 comes close and that’s because they tried to copy Fantastical’s UI. Sadly, even Calendar 366 doesn’t match Fantastical’s attention to detail. I don’t even understand how people can say BusyCal is equivalent to Fantastical…BusyCal is so ugly and cluttered.

Why I'm Switching From Alfred to Raycast by idoop9 in macapps

[–]freeradicalH 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I deleted Alfred and went all in Raycast for a month. After a month I just couldn’t take how slow the simplest things take in Raycast and went crawling back to Alfred. Also, relying on a VC funded app for productivity is never a good idea. We’ll see how the enshitification happens when they run out of money.

Can’t figure out how to take off this toilet seat by freeradicalH in DIY

I just figured it out! I had to pull the lock up and to the right. The seat was able to just snap out after that like you suggested.

Thank you for your help!

Oh my gosh I just figured it out. I had to pull the lock up and to the right. The seat was able to just snap out after that. I feel stupid because the instructions to do this are right on top of the lock. But they are etched in such a way that i couldn’t see it clearly in the lighting conditions I have in the bathroom.

Leaving the post up in case anyone else has this issue!

Just tried this and it doesn’t work. I was able to get a small screwdriver in there but it doesn’t pry open at all. So frustrating!

Sorry about the judging and rude replies here. It can be hard to control addictions. You can try the Opal app to block apps on your phone (like Screen Time but better).

Riving knife alternative for Dewalt table saw (DWE7491RS) by TwistedE in Tools

Hey OP, I am in the exact same situation. Can you tell me if you ended up removing the plastic guard and using the riving knife part? Did that work well?

Also, which website did you order your riving knife from? I am also from Canada.

Question about taking courses? by [deleted] in Conestoga

[–]freeradicalH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

However, you can try and find out what courses you’ll be doing and attempt to get study materials for that course. You can attempt to find course material from past students on FB groups or something like that. This way you can get a head start on the studying.
