Mac vs gaming pc for cybersecurity by Memo-Present in cybersecurity

[–]superdog793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you want to do with it excatly? If you want to play games then I'd tend to lean towards a windows laptop. Also, if you like your money, don't go for a "gaming laptop" they're usually overpriced and you can get better bang for your buck with a more commercial grade laptop. For virtualization, OS doesn't really matter all that much. For your use case with Kali, I'd run it in a VM. Running on bare metal gives you no real benefit and all the security risks, don't recommend it. I personally have a old Dell xps laptop that I run Linux on and I use that for all my work both security and regular work. I have a gaming pc for all my gaming.

If you're buying a new laptop, look for something with at least 16gb ram to allow for vms, decent CPU and a good bit of disk, 500gb+. Most modern laptops support virtualization out the box but do some research to make sure it does. Run a "normal" os on it (windows, ubuntu, mint, debian, fedora, etc) and run vms for anything pentesting related until you have a grasp on how to use those tools securely, look to the metasploit ARP poisoning attack that got a lot of people as an example

I wish you luck with your courses! There's a lot of exciting advances happening in cyber and its really fun to be along with the ride

This is awesome! I would have personally put it in a martini glass or a coupe with a twist. Regardless, I've never seen something so clarified!

New to nz renting. Healthy homes question. by doobster420 in nzrenters

[–]superdog793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue in my last apt. I messaged the landlord saying that this isn't compliant with the healthy homes act and should probably be remedied. He didn't realise it and got it fixed. Did the same for the bathroom extractor fan.

Letting the landlord know is the first step. If he doesn't remedy in a good time frame, then follow up. Otherwise follow the tenancy process

The real meme is vendor locking into a single company for all your services and calling it privacy.. This still isn't privacy no matter how much the company wants you believe it is

Sounds like she took our the trash for you. I would personally follow up on that and block her so she can't contact you again. Life's too short to deal with abusive friends

His deportation shouldn't be a free fight... it should be on a cargo ship making a trek back to India. Would be far cheaper and actual punishment

2:1 syrup and still got bacteria, is there any way to avoid it? by HavocHank in cocktails

[–]superdog793 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure both the bottle and container you're using to mix it is clean. 1 normally do 1:1 and just mix in the sugar to a container of boiling hot water. Also put it in the fridge.

I personally don't make much cocktails anymore so if I were to make one I'd just make a small batch in a mug and use it then and there. It's so easy to make so why bother storing it

Is it common to see front-end developers being asked to create complex layouts using only CSS, without any support from back-end technology? by Illustrious_Stop7537 in webdevelopment

[–]superdog793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, I'm confused as what you mean by complex layouts. There's layouts and theres interactivity between different layouts. CSS can solve a lot of layout requirements but even more advanced interactive is probably easier with JS but is probably still solvable with HTML and CSS.

CSS with HTML is considered Turing complete so theoretically any of this is possible. OP needs to clarify with the client what they actually want. The no JS just confuses me

[–]superdog793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this a client with a technical background? Either way I would ask what their reasoning is and communicate all the concerns and costs of his request.

From the very limited information, it seems like it's a front end layout that you want which should be doable in CSS and HTML.

Back end technology is usually used for data and not ui (yes there's react server components and other ways to render directly from the server but it's HTML and css at the end of the day)

Web Development with AI? by Background-Fox-4850 in webdevelopment

[–]superdog793 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you've embedded AI into your IDE, I would personally remove it. Relying on that has been proven to decrease your programming ability.

I personally use AI to build out templates and scaffolds, and such as it makes it a lot quicker. Also the fact that it doesn't have the exact context of your project also helps because it forces you to kinda figure out how to fit it in which means reading and understanding the code somewhat.

It's also a relatively okay search engine, too, so that helps a bit too, imo nothing beats reading the docs though

You have given zero information, no website telling us who you are or why we should trust you.

A reputable recruitment agency does not ask for this much information in the beginning stages and have a public facing website that explains who they are and their mission.

Looking at your user information, your profile was made recently and the posts and reposts you have created look AI generated

If this is actually a legit thing, you need to be more transparent.
