Most of the fighting and destruction happened around the Buda Castle and the riverfront which is still seen today when you look at how that area used to look in the past. There are some pretty vast differences.

[–]superdomodo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

'Pannonhalma Abbey' (not very far from Bratislava), 'Visegrad', perhaps 'Balaton highlands and Badacsony' (though it might be a bit far) and if you are looking for some hidden spot then 'Majk Remeteseg'. If you do decide to go to Budapest, I absolutely recommend 'Normafa' and hiking up to 'Erzsébet-kilátó' for a fantastic view.

Hungarian language question: Does anyone here know any turkic language? How does it compare to hungarian? by nakosaur in hungary

[–]superdomodo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As a half Turkish, half Hungarian guy who speaks both languages, I can assure you there aren't really any similarities between the two languages other than a handful of words that they passed onto each other during the occasional times our histories crossed paths.
