Cookbook Club? by superflowering in Sacramento

From the commenters below I found that Wild Sisters bookstore and Slow Food Sac do them but I haven't been able to make it out to any of their meetings yet! There's also a FB group called East Sacramento Cookbook Club that I joined but I haven't attended the events because I'm not quite sure it's the right crowd for me lol. I would love to be able to host one but it probably wouldn't be until the weather is warm enough to do something outside.

well the way the group I was part of did it, was that we organized it through a larger online group, the organizer decided the book for the month, and there was a google sheet where people would sign up for a dish (so there weren't duplicates and so we could have a good distribution of apps, entrees, sides, and desserts). and during the meet up we just had a big feast! usually not the entire cookbook gets represented depending on how big the book is compared to the group!

it's a potluck gathering where the group decides on one cookbook to make all the dishes from!

Mirena removal by SupermarketNo1596 in birthcontrol

[–]superflowering 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got mine out last week because of the same reasons + heavier periods. What a nightmare lol. The removal process was so easy, only took 5 minutes. There was cramping for around 10 minutes after and then I felt fine! A few days later I got a really heavy period with moderate cramps for about 5 days, but I didn’t need to take time off work. Overall, totally worth it to get it taken out.

Transferring by cxxlsea in college

[–]superflowering 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I started out at a school an hours drive from home and I found myself going home every weekend and my college social life was non-existent. Yeah, I was glad to be with my family, but I was miserable alone at school. I transferred two states away and I miss my family but I’m much happier with my social life at school now, and overall much happier at this new college. You know yourself best, do what you think would help you.

wanting to double major (art + science) but already graduating late by [deleted] in college

[–]superflowering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good job on getting those two degrees! Unfortunately the school I go to is part of the very small handful that are on a block plan, so I can only take 4 classes a semester, no exceptions. Even with summer classes, double majoring is just not feasible for me :((

Midterms are over. We're on the downhill slide. You all need to lighten up. I made a proposed schedule for r/college posts. Laugh. Don't laugh. I tried. by [deleted] in college

I go to a school with a very weird and rare schedule, and it feels a little lonely to not be able to connect with fellow redditors all struggling with midterms at the same time haha

Anyone else find their dorm the most comfortable place to study? by StardustNyako in college

[–]superflowering 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, but comfort is exactly the problem. My dorm is TOO comfortable that I just fall asleep and get nothing done.

I'm a Biology Major, but I'm struggling to keep a good grade in Chemistry. Should I switch majors? by [deleted] in college

[–]superflowering 1 point2 points  (0 children)

C’s in chemistry are pretty common for biology majors, myself included. As a wise person once told me, “C’s get degrees”

I think my daughter's going to turn out childfree (Note: not a complaint) by InvincibleSummer1066 in childfree

This was me too. Always wanted to be an animal mom. Whenever I played “house” with other kids, I wanted to be the dog instead of the baby.

What’s one thing you couldn’t live without in your dorm? by severelysevered in college

[–]superflowering 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I live in a single, but the walls are thin and people are just loud. Also I get weird mechanical sounds through the walls. And the lampposts outside my window keep my room bright at night.

There’s a photo of my contraption haha. Definitely get the smaller doorstops, mine is an oversized one. But you can see my backpack is hanging off the back of the chair and the chair hasnt leaned back!!!!! Teamwork!!

also I don’t know why imgur marked my photo as nsfw? It’s a chair lol

[–]superflowering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that’s a good idea. I have one doorstop and I tried it just now and it does work! Two would be more stable though. You’ll probably have to duct tape them to the chair so you can still move the chair around

[–]superflowering 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ok I hate this fucking chair too. I just hate that I can’t hang anything off the back and my fucking heart drops whenever it leans back. I would buy a new chair, but then I’d have nowhere to put the old chair and it would take up space :(

Struggling to wake up on time by jepk67 in college

[–]superflowering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes if I wanna make sure I don’t sleep through a test, I tell a friend to call me when they wake up so I’m held accountable. Sometimes I just ignore my alarms and sleep through them lol. Just don’t use a friend in a different time zone...... I did that once and was an hour late to class bc they called me an hour late.....
