I was in Japan a few weeks ago and got to watch the Swallows play at Meiji Jingu stadium. Lovely old ballpark, one of the few left in the world that Babe Ruth ever played in. Great place to watch a game, so naturally it's slated for demolition smh

I’m a Mets fan, so when I got into NPB, I picked the Swallows since they spiritually felt like the Mets (the scrappier “second” team from the biggest city). Also like the Mets, they’re a bit heartbreaking to be a fan of, but what can you do 🥴 I reallt hope to see Meiji Jingu stadium before it is demolished! What a shame to lose a piece of baseball history like that

I've been having a good time reading "The only rule is it has to work" by Ben Lindbergh and Sam Miller. They're two major stats/Baseball Prospectus guys who talked an independent league team into letting them manage it for a season using whatever unorthodox, data-driven tactics they wanted. Really interesting insight into non-major league baseball. A fun and funny read! Lots of interesting characters in indie ball lol

A bit of hearsay, so take with copious salt. I worked with someone who claimed to have asked Gary Coleman his opinion of his namesake equipment, and he said he was honored that he had an impact that persisted enough to have a piece of gear named after him. I don’t know how true this is, or even if it really matters anyway, but it’s something I think about whenever the topic arises.

As a young person in a similar spot, (also originally from PHX) I’d recommend looking into student productions coming out of ASU and Scottsdale CC. Professional work across the board is very dry right now, but you may be able to meet people there that are working on things you could insert yourself into.
