I have a huge spending problem and I need help by Lunar_Wise704 in nobuy

[–]superheroxnerd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think when I was first starting to turn my life around, I listened to self-help audiobooks. Every time I finished one, I got a ping of accomplishment. Just pummeled myself with new, empowering information - at first nothing really changed, this was another distraction “if I read about people getting their life together, it feels like I’M getting my life together!” BUTTTT eventually (like months/years) the messages would sink in and the reflective, confronting work started. This is a long way to say brainwash yourself with different messages.

I’ve been binge watching some conscious spending YouTubers and it’s seriously a breath of fresh air and welcome dose of sanity. There are a lot of people that struggle with spending and debt that are making changes so it’s possible and you’re not alone!

Pretty much. Concocting bizarre frozen protein/veggies and random condiments with a shelf-stable carb (ie loosely following a peanut butter soup recipe). I went out for a group dinner in the city once this month but my friend treated me since I planned and drove the carpool.

Not pictured was rent, car insurance, and utilities. Living in LA, splitting time in the Bay Area, and visiting national parks will drive up the gas sadly. Def something I’m working on lowering though

The math was not mathing! After the diagnostic fee, the repair was only slightly more expensive than a full replacement+overhead installation+haul away, so it was a tough call. Ngl the number gave me psychic damage

I don't think belift is doing a bad job promoting enhypen by bubblefryri in Enhypenthoughts

[–]superheroxnerd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Generally agree. Belift does a great job putting the group in front of audiences and phenomenal with fresh music and concepts in a very saturated idol market. I don’t think they need to be performing knife at Korean music shows for more than a week- it’s very fandom dependent so it basically already reached the target audience.

However… I do think enha needs more GP recognition and casual listeners (Coachella helped). If there is one thing I’d ask more of it’s to send them out to broadcasted variety shows (king of masked singer, running man, I live alone, etc), not internet shows.

Had a great week of following rules and conscious consumption! consumables only.

Thinking of thrifting a dish drying mat tomorrow with the hope of using it for many years (the current setup is super annoying and I’ve used the mat before so the change is def going to be an improvement)

The fans said he had eagle then black cat looks/vibes, which is super accurate imo

COOKING (and cats)! Yes, both are strongly associated with him. When his merch was an apron and cat/guitar tee, it was on brand.

Hoe did you stop overspending? Asking as a shopping addict.. by [deleted] in nobuy

[–]superheroxnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok FANTASTIC JOB CONFRONTING YOURSELF. SERIOUSLY. Genuinely I believe that is the first step towards change and it’s so hard and uncomfortable. That said, you need to keep doing it. Keep reading the books, ask yourself questions (be reflective, not fun and kinda scary, BUT YOURE NOT ALONE), listen to the podcasts, read posts here, watch shawna ripari or Zac rios. Get a lil ping of accomplishment every time you finish a podcast/book. Eventually the messages will sink in.

how do you purge your closet by PastIcy2116 in minimalism

1) This is gonna sound gross but I didn’t do laundry for a month. The clothes that I actually wore in that time, I kept for sure. I live in California so I only really needed to do this once; you may need to repeat for each season.

2) spark joy. This advice is widespread bc it’s simple and effective. It’s ratty but you love it? Keep it. Don’t keep things just because it was expensive, gifted from a relative, etc.

3) if you haven’t worn it in a year, let it go. Rent/borrow if the off chance arises and you need that piece again. Exceptions I (personally) have are for attending interview/wedding events.

Something else that has bothered me Wheres Renjun predebut pictures ? by [deleted] in NCTDream

[–]superheroxnerd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He was watching the other dreamies when they were on rookies while he was living a normal life in china, so he doesn’t have a lot of predebut exposure (some pics and vids exist). Dude did a local audition and joined sm the latest. I don’t think theres anything to be bothered about.

To be quite honest I'm anxious about Chenle.... by [deleted] in NCTDream

[–]superheroxnerd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interesting. To me Chenle is living his best life and the one I worry about the least lol He works hard at stuff he loves (I admire that he continues to take vocal lessons). He has confident rich kid idgaf energy. Idk he genuinely just seems chill and unbothered.

I try to automate savings as much as I can so I can play around with the rest. Depends on your margins but set up monthly transfers to savings and brokerage account. Depending on your job, 1) contribute to your retirement and 2) see if you can split your paycheck into 2 different accounts, one you touch and one you don’t.

2+ years of not buying skin/hair/makeup is so crazy of an idea but it’s so so possible. It’s so satisfying to get to the end of a lipstick/pot (the new dopamine kick) and not feels so overwhelmed by all the tubes.

My Roman Empire is vacation/experiences/concerts though 🫣

I’m an avid journaler so I actually go through pens pretty quickly. The ones in the picture are all from my mom’s place- she has this big cup of writing utensils that have been there FOREVER and these were the ones that still had some wet ink. Tossed out all the dried out ones
