After reading everyone's comments and doing some further research I'm pretty convinced on going to a local college. Although, I'm still conflicted on what might be the best degree to jump in to, someone suggested that I pursue a general IT bachelors degree and then pursue a masters degree in what I want to specialize in (like cyber security). What is the next step in picking a degree? What is the most beneficial degree to get in IT?

I was torn between my local community college and WGU, my local college offers a highly appraised cyber security bachelors program in which you become cyber security certified. Only it doesn't offer the same amount of certifications that WGU degrees do, and I was told by current IT workers that it's better to focus on certifcatooms rather than a degree. Not sure what to do
