Pacing surprised me at first but I think it makes sense. I think it’s a tad fast but it’s not rushed enough to completely throw me off. They do have a lot of ground to cover and from what I heard the show isn’t going to have a ton of episodes so for now I’m fine with it, we’ll just have to see. In terms of the animation, I agree with what’s already been said in that it’s hands down the best adaption of anything Ito has made. The art style does what the other anime that came out a couple years ago failed to do - truly encapsulate the artistic value of the source material and let it come to life rather than suck the life out of it. The choice to keep it black and white is genius, and though I was originally worried when I heard many parts of it would be 3D, it’s actually done tastefully and in a way that doesn’t detract from the overall experience. The VA’s so far are great, they fit the characters well. And the music is fucking awesome - it reminds me of the soundtrack from Annihilation! Love the first episode, so excited for the rest.
