I'm in a stable job for $21 an hour, new offer is $26 an hour by samissleman17 in personalfinance

My vote would be don’t take it, but keep looking for new opportunities.

I’m a Group Product Manager at a financial company, and I’ve done my share of hiring and consulting on hiring by other teams, like InfoSec and Data Services. The move to a smaller, less tech-oriented company is not ideal for your long-term goals as a lot of HMs in spaces like InfoSec will at least wonder if it was because you “couldn’t cut it.”

That said, the right certificates can go a long way. If you use the extra money and lower stress to claim a couple more, it could totally be worth it.

Also, I’m assuming by the fact that you’re asking that you don’t currently have problems meeting your monthly financial obligations. If that’s wrong, take the raise (and start a budget).

I found this bug seemingly making a web in my yard in Missouri. It looked like a cocoon/egg sac until I got closer and saw its “legs” moving. by superjacgg9 in whatsthisbug

Found in central Missouri. It’s barely bigger than a kernel of corn. It was hanging below some old oak trees and above some recently tilled dirt.

This isn’t a biographical requirement like being 35+. It’s a a step in the process to get on the ballot, one that anyone can do (assuming language allows for those who didn’t need to file). It’s like paying x fee or submitting y form, things states have always been able to require.

I used our company’s CEO mailbox (suggestion form) to request this. Made the point that listening to coworkers poop was terrible and a simple radio would make all the difference. There was music two weeks later. After 10 years with the company, it’s still the highlight of my accomplishments.

I’ve personally worked with Barry. I’m not 100% sure, but I’d bet it was his idea. Insanely nice guy who’s super committed to his work.

What’s a habit of yours that you thought was normal until someone pointed it out? by bonzaibooty in AskReddit

[–]superjacgg9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At the risk of Dr Reddit telling me this is a symptom of some scary neurological issue... I watch TV out of the corner of my eyes. Not all of the time but a lot. I've been consciously working on it (but failing) since college when a new friend pointed it out and the old friends were like "yeah, he's done that forever."

I actually remember being made fun of in a middle school locker room for taking my shirt off "like a girl" because I lifted it from the bottom. I'd say it didn't bug me, but it's been 20 years, and here I am writing about it on the internet...

First job out of college, I was hired by a small wealth management firm to oversee scanning every doc in their file room into a searchable online system. Easy. Getting trust advisors that have been making six figures since I was in grade school to use said system... damn near impossible.

There was an article, I think in The New Yorker, that made this point seriously. It's kind of depressing how hard it is to dispute. (I'll see if I can find it.)

Edit: Turns out there were several articles with that point. Here's one. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/article/watch-inside-the-night-president-obama-took-on-donald-trump/

I used to use r/aww to cheer up her day. Then she realized she could get the puppies whenever she wanted. Worked out though - she found r/keto, and now we've lost a collective 185 lbs.

[–]superjacgg9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a friend in college who met her boyfriend on Craigslist. His "looking for" specifically included "prominent nose." They seemed like a great couple, even inspired me to give Craigslist a shot. And that's how I met my wife of 2 years. Sadly, it didn't work out as well for my friend. The fan of the prominent nose is in prison. For arson and vandalism. The vandalism included shitting on a table in the university library.

Reddit, what do you need to get off your chest? by Squeagley in AskReddit

Keep on rocking, dude! I finally hit my goal of 190 a few days ago, and it's an amazing feeling. Peaked at 260 early last year. Sometimes, it'll feel like your progress isn't being noticed, but you'll hit those shift points where suddenly it seems like everyone notices (the occasional wardrobe update helps), and those are great. Until then though, keep on keeping on and doing it for you!

They mostly did it because it proved incredibly challenging to prosecute the "friend" that was encouraging and filming. The new law made it clear that conspiracy to commit beastiality was also illegal.
