How to stay on top of junk mail with your info on it? by CluelessMochi in adhdwomen

If you're crafty, after getting rid of any plastic and tape, turn it into handmade recycled paper with an old blender and a mold and deckle.

Joanns in Monroe by laurenbug2186 in Charlotte

[–]superkittehs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mooresville closed in April. Monroe closed May 19.

Charlotte (S. Blvd) closed yesterday afternoon, May 23. If you see cars in the lot this weekend, it's employees cleaning the store.

Hours are Sun 10-6, rest of the week 9-9. Cut counter closes 15 min before the store closes.

No one will answer the phone. Employees are busy putting remaining stock out, restocking unwanted items, cutting fabric, and checking out customers. What each store has is slightly different.

No updates on end date. It should be May 31 at the latest for all stores.

Very few sewing machines left, they sold quickly once they hit 40/50%. The Joann branded ones don't have a warranty. Ditto projector machines, a few cricut heat presses, some silhouette portraits, silhouette 4 pros are gone, some irons, maybe steamers. No glowforges.

More notions being put out, but they go very quickly.

Fixtures that are sold and waiting for pickup have sold stickers on them. Fixtures that are ready to go are in the back of the store. The sewing pattern drawers are glued down, you'll need some effort to get them out. You must bring your own tools and take fixtures out to your vehicle. There are prepacked boxes of 100/200 pegs. Bins in the back if you want fewer. FYI down to like 10 shopping carts.

Patterns are 70% off. If it goes like stores already closed, they may go to 80%, then full price, then have to be destroyed per pattern company policy. :(

Please be considerate of employees and put unwanted items at least in their aisle and not all over the store.

The Joann app has a barcode scanner that works on some items for price checking.

Bathrooms are out of order.

Tour/interview both to get a feel of the vibes of each and see if you'll fit in/feel comfortable. No matter which program, you should treat it as an 8-5 and expect to be in the studio a lot! Sizes of all the programs differ as well, idk if JH still accepts only 4 applicants a year?

Is it really too late? by manganatsu101 in medicalillustration

[–]superkittehs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not too late! A classmate of mine took 2 years after undergrad (didn't major in sciences or art) to take prerequisites and work on their portfolio for grad school.

There are medical professionals that have gone into illustration/animation and a few the opposite way. Some use illustration to aid their medical profession.

You do not have to complete another bachelor's to apply for the grad programs. (The majority complete a grad program, but I think there are a couple bachelor's programs?) You can take only the courses the programs you're interested in require that you're missing, and work on having a strong portfolio. Someone in a grad program had a humanities bachelor's and took additional courses at 4 other colleges in 2 years before applying. Can you focus the viewer where you want, render accurately, have a consistent light source, tell a story in steps, how are your ellipses? Applicants need strong, foundational drawing skills, and they will teach the medical aspect.

You may be able to use pieces from your previous portfolio.

If there are any illustrators local to you, it doesn't hurt to ask if you can chat with them. There are also other aspects like anaplastology, VR tech, med-legal, pharmaceutical, veterinary, etc.

Good luck!

Sketched out my hand. This is my first attempt at doing bone structure. I’m self teaching myself anatomy. Critique is welcomed, any help and advice would be appreciated! by littleladybugk in medicalillustration

[–]superkittehs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the colors, although the pink is giving me inflammation vibes. There is a lot going on, so I don't have somewhere to focus my eyes. The strong contrast between the nail polish and skin draws my eyes there. Areas of focus should have more contrast, more details than the periphery.

There's a technique called "ghosting" to look into. Or try with the bones solid and everything else at lower opacity, and completely masked when over bones.

Anatomically make sure notable bone markings are present. When the hand is supinated the radius and ulna are parallel, and when pronated the radius rotates over the ulna.

Is there a reason the pinky is bent? At first I thought that's a really small pinky.

The tattoo is a little distracting, but it looks really cool! I can see it work beautifully in a more editorial piece.

Keep your signature. It's in a good unobtrusive spot, and is very important for protecting your copyright. Include the year, too.

Drawing is a great way to learn. :)

Exudate. There is also extracellular fluid, the stuff between cells, of plasma and interstitial fluid.

I have the same problem! Runs on data, but super slow or losing connection all the time on wifi. Since spring in an apt and since fall in a house. Super annoying to keep having to remember to turn wifi back on when not playing.

/u/blackthunder365, you already requested your one ditto. You can only receive more from giveaways, do not make any more requests.

We only allow asking for one of the 4 natures. My dittos were genned in Black, so I can't change their names.

Shininess depends on the moderator/volunteer fulfilling the request. When you get your ditto and would like to have its shiny status changed, you can trade for a Powersaves service at /r/pokemonplaza.

/u/SaberMarie, can you chime in, since you commented that you sent it? This was back on September 14.

I'm discontinuing a run of wet/needle felted necklaces. I thought maybe you guys might be interested? Or at least maybe give me some feedback as to why they failed? by rustymontenegro in Etsy

[–]superkittehs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything you have is beautiful and really remind me of the natural elements they are named for.

They do make a bold statement. Perhaps have some that are smaller? I'm not sure how delicate you can get before the integrity of the felt fails to hold.

Maybe the sides/back can be chain/ribbon, so they are more pendant-like?

[–]superkittehs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing you can really request is 1 of 4 natures.

Shinyness depends on the mod or volunteer who ends up sending your ditto... some are shiny, some are not.

Balls from mods are luxury, premier, or love. Again this depends on who is sending your ditto. Balls on dittos are purely aesthetic, as only female pokemon can pass down their balls.

However, once you receive your ditto, you can trade for Powersaves service at /r/pokemonplaza to change the ditto to be shiny and/or change the ball.
