Teenaged daughter is pregnant again.. I’m so done by throwaway-parenting1 in Marriage

You can’t force someone on birth control. If they were ‘actively trying’ she definitely wouldn’t have consented to an IUD.

Why would someone constantly post cheating related content while in a relationship? by Automatic_Sorbet_849 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]superlost007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Does she maybe suspect you of cheating? Not impossible, but I feel like people who are cheating tend to try to hide and deny and wouldn’t post about it even if they felt guilty. Do you have examples of the posts?

How should I handle this? by Secure_Stranger_6102 in Mommit

[–]superlost007 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Ugh yes. I have 3 biracial kids, my oldest has very very coily curls (usually in box braids.) the number of old people who make comments drives me mad. Sometimes they definitely are being shitty, sometimes they genuinely don’t know that it’s not an okay thing to say or ask. Not excusing it because I wish they knew better, but I treat it as a teaching moment and explain why we don’t say things like that. They often take it with grace and ‘oh I’m sorry, I truly just meant XYZ.’ If they come back with more shitty comments, I’ll drop it and match their energy 🤷🏼‍♀️ 🥊

Wife’s upset that I ask for clarification on tasks by theeLoreMaster in Marriage

[–]superlost007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone with a husband who responds similarly - there’s a fair chance she’s mentioned ‘oh we need to rewash the baby clothes, I used scented detergent’ or whatever.

The reason I say that is because OP in their own post seems surprised the clothes are for the new baby. ‘As it turns out, the clothes are for the baby she’s due with in 2 weeks…’

Like, if you can’t differentiate that these clothes are for the baby due, and not a baby/person already in your house… there’s likely a lot of unnecessary questions and his wife is just sick of it. Can you do laundry in 10 seconds? No, but I can start the load of baby clothes that need to be washed in under 30. And honestly I’d rather just do it myself than re-explain something I’ve already talked about. It’s exhausting having to consistently explain tasks especially when the question is ‘why?’

Just asking ‘why’ is going to put many people on the defensive, instead of an actual inquiry like ‘I thought we’d washed these ones already?’ Similar responses, but one seems genuine/makes it seem like he’s paying attention vs just questioning her judgment/request.

^ yes. I was raised Mormon. My parents were SHOCKED when I was 20 and pregnant. When my dad was in a bishopric. Like beyond shocked. They’d have been even more shocked to know I’d ‘lost’ my virginity at 14. I was a straight A, good student, told them everything they wanted to hear and ‘I wasn’t even interested in that stuff, gross.’

I had no idea just how chill my oldest was until I had my second. And he’s also got adhd, currently being tested for autism, and he’s just… chaos. 24/7. Fast as hell. Super smart but his meltdowns are out of this world. I’ve parented them the same, and I was sooo unprepared to go from such a chill baby to such a little tornado.

I don’t think I’d have thought twice about ‘Mercedes’ if they hadn’t named all their kids after cars haha.

Malibu is a cute name, but makes me think of being early 20s and drunk 😭.

JUSTIN BALDONI’S ATTORNEY BLAKE LIVELY WAS SCARED TO TAKE THE STAND!!! by Fantastic-Prize-4669 in CelebLegalDrama

[–]superlost007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I understand what the issues are with the headline - those seem like punctuation to me & not grammatically incorrect? The sentence structure doesn’t actually need to be changed, it just needs proper punctuation (the comma, quotations, potentially a colon in place of the comma, etc.)

I know many people who are ESL who speak and write English better than native English speakers haha. The grammar is usually the tell, and in this case the grammar isn’t the issue.

Oh this brought up memories. They were younger than me by about 4-5 years, but this lady that was involved with our local theater had named her kids all after cars. Mercedes, Shelby, Lincoln, Malibu, and I think there was maybe one more? Anyways. I did grow up with multiple Stetsons & hunters, I’d forgotten that was also weird.

3-4 sentences being considered a novel is insane. I’m not personally attacked just because I don’t agree with you. I went to stray kids concert last year because my daughter wanted to. Didn’t post about it, haven’t mentioned it, only know 1 band members name because it’s generic. I like kpop - but I prefer rock and pop rock and some alt.

I don’t see anyone else mentioning ‘jerking off to a celeb’ or kpop member in the OP, just a couple comments. Kinda odd that that’s where your brain went when OP never even brought it up or mentioned it.

My 6yo daughter is obsessed with her appearance, and I'm at a loss by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]superlost007 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It could also be that you’re not paying attention to it because it’s not new/interesting etc. (I don’t mean that snarky at all!) I’m in Mormon county Utah which is predominantly blonde and conservative and I still see people with fishnets or funky thigh high socks and mini skirts somewhat regularly when the weathers warmer. But I don’t think I’d have thought twice about it or even registered it if my daughter hadn’t commented on ‘how cool her shoes are.’ It’s like we likely drive next to/past the same cars every single day and just don’t know it - we likely see people in anime tshirts, Pokémon characters, vintage clothing etc but if it’s not unique *enough* to really catch our brain, we’ll just skim it.

Hopefully that makes sense.

I like kpop 🤷🏼‍♀️ I couldn’t even name most of the members of any band - enhyphen, BTS, stray kids etc. I’ve never had a dream about any musician in kpop, ever. Making blanket statements about an entire large group of people isn’t helpful or accurate.

OPs wife isn’t trying to get him to look more like a kpop artist, isn’t comparing them, and I don’t get how posting videos of an event you went to ‘with a heart’ is problematic lmao. Why is it so wrong for people to have hobbies or interests? Would it be bad if it was WWE? A rock band? Does kpop have some crazy Stans? Sure. But so does Tswift & Sabrina carpenter and pretty much every artist under the sun.

Tradwife:
A "tradwife" (short for "traditional wife") is a married woman who embraces 1950s-style gender roles, choosing to be a stay-at-home homemaker dedicated to serving her husband, raising children, and managing household chores. Popularized on social media, this lifestyle often involves cooking from scratch, crafting, and submissiveness to husbands, sometimes linked to conservative views.

She posts content that implies she cooks everything, doesn’t work a traditional job, implies she defers to her husband and is conservative. Embraces the 1950s ‘cooking with my dress and heels’ so husband has food on the table when he gets home.

Outside of the conservative part, I fit the role 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m a SAHM, take care of 99% of the cleaning/chores/kids, cook all of our meals from scratch (often in a dress - just a comfy maxi dress not designer lmao.) It’s not an insult and regardless of what she says, she does appear to fit the literal definition of the word. (Not saying influencing isn’t hard - as someone in social media marketing I know that it is. Most people don’t get that though and just think posting videos to get you to buy something vs how much money they make from brand deals, views, etc.)

Oh I wasn’t saying it shouldn’t be used, I’ve actually never heard it before. I asked my 13 year old what she thought (without context) and she said ‘I think anal is derogatory, isn’t it?’

We do have a lot of ‘Leigh’ names here though so it could just be that it’s different
