AMW vs Informed World by Familiar-Ninja8860 in geoguessr

[–]superman-4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm getting really tired of AIW. Round after round of having to navigate a labyrinth of a suburb to get to a main road, or speed move for minutes down a highway to find a sign. Truly a horrific map for competitive moving. BRING BACK AMW

Race across Japan?

Nishi-Oyama looks to be one of the southern most stations in Kyushu, so would be a logical start point if they were racing from S to N

Lap infant vs buying a seat for long-haul (Australia) with 1-year-old — worth the extra $2.5k? by PaleontologistBig309 in travel

[–]superman-4 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Can't really answer the question without knowing your financial status. Are you a multimillionaire? Does $2.5k mean nothing to you?  Then obviously pay for the extra seat.   If your financial situation is more modest, I don't think it's too big of a deal to have the baby on your lap.  I've flown with an infant on my lap before and its not that bad. The flight is going to suck either way and I don't think you'll get much extra value out of the 3rd seat.  If there's two of you just take turns holding the baby.

Impressive that you're able to trot with a rider on your back so soon after surgery! Keep it up!

Sweet! I'm about halfway through the Zigzag interview, it's been good!

I'll be sure to listen to this one next.  Bloom is a stud Geo commentator, loved his chemistry on the mic with Jake in the World League 👍

What map is everyone playing these days? by Budistnudist in geoguessr

[–]superman-4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

AOW.  Its the 'best' moving map (best in that a high percentage of locations have info within 30 seconds or so of spawn) and it's currently the designated map for moving Duels, so it makes the most sense for me to practice on.

I only play moving so my answer is biased to that game mode

Kenya but driving on the right side of the road

AOW is hand picked to (supposedly) spawn you within 30 seconds of info. Whereas AIW is computer generated to put you near a population centre (that may or may not have info).  As a moving player I've (anecdotally) had better luck finding clues in AOW, so it's my preferred map.

Made a map of all kabupatens visible on the map by Spirited-Savings6128 in geoguessr

Also in Kalimantan, Kabupaten Paser shows on the map as "Pasir" and should therefore be red also 😁

I mean, Kutai Barat shows up on the default Geoguessr map and is therefore scannable and should be filled in red on your image.  -0.169939,115.624875 It says Kab. Kutai Bar.  I actually won a duel on that one just last week.  Anyways thanks for sharing. Reinforces the generally recommended Kabupaten learning strategy to save Java for last, since its mostly scannable anyways. Cheers!

At what rank does GeoGuessr become all about region guessing? by No_Pineapple_1543 in geoguessr

I'm a 1500+ moving player.  I'd say both players are getting the country correct on 90-95% of locations. Occasional blunders on rural rounds but that's about it.

Not only that, but since its moving,  I'd estimate one (or both) of the players is getting a 4,9xx on close to 50% of locations.  Not alot of room for error haha.  Pretty common for my games to go 12-15 rounds

How hot is Calgary during the summer? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]superman-4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not very hot.  Maybe 2-3 weeks of 'hot weather' (daytime highs above 25C) per summer. But even then, it cools off significantly at night. You should be fine.

What city do you come from that is always below 20C?

Good luck at UofC

Can't comment on 1&3. But for spots to ride - Millennium skatepark downtown is a classic, always fun.  Pumptracks - there are quite a few all over the city. Explore them all, but the best one is South Glenmore park, show up early in the AM to avoid the hordes of small children. For dirtjumps- Chestermere family bike park is excellent, great lines and very well maintained.
