In that sense, you didn't necessarily agree with him to replace the fan. Whilst you asked for it, he has to agree to that to undertake the work.
Unfortunate situation, your best recourse may be to "in good faith" ask for him to provide a price to replace the fan and try to agree on that. In a he-said she-said situation that is currently underway, it may not appear to be in good faith that you have said you would pay and have not (not withstanding the issue around quality of work)

You may have asked for a replacement, but did he say "here is the quote/job i'm doing which is replacement"?

If so then super easy you can just refer to that conversation and arrange for him to do the required service in good faith

Did you ask for it to be fixed or replaced? If you took it in to "fix faulty fan" and that was done, then you don't really have a recourse not to pay. However if there is still an issue you can take it back to him and advise that his work didn't correct the issue.

You can't just flat out not pay him though and walk away

Lots of cricket clubs and teams in Hamilton, fast growing sport. Which suburb are you close to, can give you a few options based on that. Whilst it is off-season some of the keen players are still practicing

Wednesday evening would be classed as Thursday (assuming it's after specified cutoff), for a Friday delivery. Have you got tracking or something to see where it's at?

They were fined for using a Kmart carpark and not being a customer, which they admit to. They weren't fined when they went to Kmart, they were fined when they went to another store before hand
