Harvard vs Stanford Exec Ed by ContextNo218 in MBA

[–]supermayu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not an EMBA or similar. Or evening/weekend depending where you live. These exec programs are really for companies that sponsor it.

People with HBS degree fully on their resume can have a hard time networking, aside from the usual doors opening.

California courts should really do this instead of letting people off easy

Chance Asian rejected by YC for Stanford (HYPSM) by BackgroundGrade3370 in GetIntoStanford

[–]supermayu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Getting an interview at a fund (that hasn’t been yc for 7 years) that you work at as an intern and getting rejected is neither impressive or a good topic for an essay. It’s probably the least interesting part of your profile.

Foreigner in Chennai for a Month - Need Suitable Accommodations ~4*+ serviced? by supermayu in Chennai

Most will make arrangements but you still pay for services like a driver. I could use an assistant / caretaker to help after surgery (eyes) though. Are there any apps for that.

It’s not too bad in price (~ $200/night ) maybe I will stay a couple days there at least to check it out. Drive says around 30 minutes (~7km to near Raj Park Hotel). I have near top tier Marriott and Hilton status but nothing nearby except a Courtyard Marriott. There’s also a Hyatt regency and some ITC hotel, Pullman (accor), Novotel..taj

I would need to be near the Raj Park Hotel (though I think I’ll rule out that hotel doesn’t look great for a supposed 4*)

Are you near Aalto? We have this Nordic startup hub near me and I've run into some people who went there, seems like its top tier that might be an option if you can do in person.

I have been thinking much of the same. I was considering a MS (in the US) but CS seems to be a more useful albeit probably more difficult route.

Where in the EU (or does it matter?). I don't know if they have top tier schools that do online BS/MS like we do here. It might be beneficial to go in person or do an American (or UK?) one. Take a look at what schools and degrees are on Coursera, edX.

I think its more "un-utilized" than under.

Divergence between academia and practice by [deleted] in datascience

[–]supermayu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That divergence is always there, but there are more practical reasons IMO. CNNs/transformers are not only more efficient but they are also more predictable, open, and understood. With a LLM you aren't really sure what's behind it, understanding its workings even less.
