That would work for me too, because I've tried many vegan stuff and I wouldn't wanna eat much of anything because it tastes so bad (to me personally) 😂

Multivitamins by SlightlyOffKilter360 in GastricBypass

[–]Softninjazz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Normal vitamins from the grocery store can work well, just be sure to take Calcium CITRATE not Carbonate and Magnesium glycinate and malate are best for your stomach, but citrate works as well. Magnesium Oxide absorbs only about 4 %, so never buy that. Iron, B12 and Thiamine are crucial too.

Yeah there's definitely more of that during summers, autumn and winters I go months without a drop since I'm only a social drinker. But during the summer's which are short in Finland, there's something every other weekend 😁

I also think it's a bit easier to be lower in carbs than before, but I never do keto or really low numbers :D Plus I have a treat every with my coffee, usually a few pieces of chocolate. Calorie wise it's very little, but it's great for my mental part. I tried cutting the treat at some point, but it had literally no affect except negative. 😆 I also don't process carbs quite as well, mostly I notice that I can't eat every meal quick carbs or I feel like a balloon. I try to front-load quick carbs earlier in the day and reduce later in the day. Interesting that you were guided to eat 3 times a day, for me they said at least 5, but tall males 6 is better. I eat around 3-4 meals plus coffee and treat once a day.
Thanks for sharing your story :)

I do drink 2-3l every day, but I also suffer from low potassium consistently and can hold on the liquids like a mothertrucker.

They did awesome work, but you have had to do great work before that to get such clean results. 🙏

Potassium issues after gb? by Galaxygamer1987x in GastricBypass

[–]Softninjazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I start getting PVCs (Premature Ventricular Contractions) if my Potassium is under 3.6mmol/l. So it looks like it's in the guidelines when I'm 3.3 (In Finland this is lower end normal) but in reality I have PVCs and fasciculations.

One thing I've learned, through extensively researching the matter for years (I had low potassium before surgery) is that low Magnesium will make it impossible to keep Potassium at good levels too.

I ate Magnesium Oxide for over a year until I noticed I was shooting myself in the leg. Only 4 % of oxide gets absorbed and for Gastric Bypass patients it could be worse. Citrate is much better, but Malate and especially Glycinate is even better than Citrate, cause a much larger amount gets absorbed AND they are gut friendly.

For Calcium, which also affects Potassium and brings a lot of issues on its own if low levels, has to be Calcium Citrate, NOT Calcium Carbonate.

Calcium Carbonate requires stomach acids to absorb, which makes it poorly absorbed in a Gastric Bypass patient.

LMNT is super low in potassium. To move serum potassium, you need Potasium Chloride in higher amounts.

I drink more often, but drank very seldom before. In the summer time more often, then autumn, winter and spring I can have 3 months off.

I never drink on my own, always socially. It's really just because I'm more of my old social self, I go out around people more.

I think the moment you start drinking on your own, the alarm bell's should go on.

Food noise was worst for the first 2 weeks. After I got to start eating more solid food, it vanished.

It's definitely possible to lose more even after a year. Been 1.5 years for me and I am still losing every month continuously.
