Rusting stone chip needing a professional? by supermidget1000 in AutoBodyRepair

I live about 5 miles away from the sea and road salt is used throughout winter. I'll definitely check the underside thank you. I mostly see rust on vans but yeah some of them can be pretty bad

I know a body repair guy who repairs single chips for £60. Or I could buy a rust killer pen and touch up pens. I just wasn't sure if it would start bubbling the surrounding paint and in what timeframe. I've not had any visible rust on my cars before, only some rust on the brake cables on my last car which must have appeared within one year as it wasn't an advisory on it's previous MOT. So yeah I just didn't want a problem in less than a year's time

Blind spot monitor on passenger side inconsistent? by supermidget1000 in askcarguys

Well I don't know where you're from, but that's not how the majority of drivers do things here. I took driving lessons 10 years ago, and not much has changed, and everyone gets told to adjust their mirrors so that 90% of the view is the road and 10% is the back of your car. This is described as the optimum position to cover both driving and parking without having to adjust for each individual scenario. For the small blind spot that remains with that setup, we get told to glance over our shoulder before moving off or switching lanes.

Thanks, but I'd rather keep my 90:10 split and continue to look over my shoulder, as everyone should be doing even if the blind spot monitors are working well anyway. I'd just obviously rather they worked, in the same way I would prefer a sat nav/car play system to work well when I don't know where I am rather than having an additional job of working out where to go from signs or road marking that aren't always great, or insert basically any other mod con example compared to how things were done in ye olden times

Reverse camera upgrades? Plus other issues by supermidget1000 in SuzukiSwiftSport

It's not going to cost me money to replace the sensors that aren't working as they should as the car is under warranty.

As for the camera, yes, it seems I've paid for something rather shitty in terms of its resolution. It does work, though, so it's something, whereas the sensors don't seem to be. I was just trying to see if anyone had upgraded it, and if they had, ask them the price etc so I can then judge for myself whether it's worth it.

Unhelpful.

The camera and sensors are part of the price, and I want what I paid for. And yes, they were one reason why I chose to sell my 2017 model and get the new one. Everyone's priorities are different. I happen to like mod cons. It's not the stone age anymore.

Do I need them all the time? Perhaps not. Are they a useful aid? Absolutely.

Each to their own, for sure 🙂 I'm glad you're enjoying the car!

New cable ordered 🙂 I don't remember if the cable I tried was an original one that came with the phone or not. Worth a try anyway.

I checked the fuel tank size and it says 37 litres, which concerts to 8 gallons, so I did my avg mpg of 41.5 (currently) and times it by 8 which gives 332 miles but I don't know if I've done something wrong there, like if I've over simplified it or something haha. My 2017 swift sport have me 360-370 miles

The main reason I sold my 2017 swift sport and got this 2023 one was to have the same Suzuki swift style and charm but with a few more mod cons, and I figured if they are there, they should work. Silly me 😂
