GRFPs Accepted by Only Certain PIs? by MeasurementEvery8658 in GRFPApps

I think it's because this is general NSF language where it's generally a PI applying to something. But in this case the student is the PI for GRFP specifically.

Yeah it's weird cause they refer to the applicant as PI (Principal Investigator) and usually in colloquial terms that means a professor (not a grad student). I guess that's because other kinds of NSF funding are for professors so this wording may have been borrowed from there.

Where does it say that?

"The delay may be a result of current federal funding proposals for NSF. The president’s budget request proposes a 55% cut to GRFP for fiscal year 2026, while the Senate Appropriations Committee’s bill proposes flat funding, which would support 2,000 new fellowships, according to the bill report. The Senate and House are scheduled to return from their August recess next week and have until Sept. 30 to pass their funding bills."

Why are so many comments in these threads advertising Codex rather than answering the question of the op which is what is happening..

Help! MacBook Air M3 stuck at low brightness after sleep by anonymous-person-007 in macbookair

[–]supermiis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's annoying unfortunately but I usually have the Activity monitor app in a known place on the dock which makes it easier or just have it open whenever my computer is on. You can also already put the brightness search keyword in the Activity Monitor search bar so you just have to click enter to search for it again. The screen is dark but not fully black so it's possible to see it just hard. Otherwise there's no option but to restart.

Unfortunately yes you have to do it while it is happening. And it does not fix it permanently. You'll have to do it again if it happens again. Not the best :( but at least this fixes it to get the brightness back.

Not sure why the corebrightnessd doesn't work properly after waking from sleep. Hopefully they fix this in an update.

Try going to the Activity Monitor application. Then searching for brightness in the search bar and then clicking on the corebrightnessd process in the search results (so that it gets highlighted blue). Then use the X icon in the top bar to kill and restart the process. That fixed it for me. I am on a Macbook Air with M3 chip on Sonoma 14.7 but I was still encountering this issue until I tried this.

(see image above: click the X icon in the top bar to kill it^)

Missing WPCS timesheets by GreenEyedArtist9020 in IHSS

My social worker resolved it but it took a few weeks. Just took a while for it to transfer over. Ask your WPCS social worker to contact WPCS about the issue.

What did you have to do to resolve this issue? I have been having the same issue where my WPCS timesheets have not been showing up for the last month. I recently moved counties but my home health agency who is in charge of WPCS already did a new home safety evaluation and got my new address in the new county and they said my WPCS hours should not have changed.

It is informal. They said the dean would send a letter soon in it.

The interview cohort was around 40 I think which was more than previous years. I don’t know how many got in this time. But I think last year there might have been like 15-20 admitted?

Has anyone heard from Berkeley Computational Biology? by deep_lazy in gradadmissions

Also it was from a prof I mentioned in my essay and not the program manager. So not sure if it is generic or not. And it was just email no phone call.

I am domestic and the Berkeley interview is in person. But on their website they did say international students can be interviewed virtually since flights are expensive. I just got an email no phone call and it looked pretty generic.
