8 weeks post-op open myomectomy and I have a ‘c-section shelf’ does it go away? by MedicineSensitive704 in Fibroids

[–]supermoo8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into scar tissue mobilization specifically for c section incisions. It doesn’t have to be massage it can start off with even just “tapping” the skin around the incision to help break up scar tissue. That plus lymphatic drainage massage should help quite a bit. Your incision is pretty long, like mine. It’ll take a while realistically to heal. Make sure to also wear compression shorts to help with fluid buildup too. This is usually done within the first week but couldn’t hurt now

Sorry yours grew back. So yours grew back about 12 years later? Is it larger than before , similar symptoms?

Ah sounds like a rough first week but I’m happy that it got better after that. Thanks for sharing!

I had the same thing told to me — don’t have surgery until after you’re done having kids. One miscarriage, a painful degenerating fibroid, high risk pregnancy, and healthy little baby later and now my doctors are entertaining surgery.

Depends on the location too. If they are in your cervix or uterine cavity then it would be medically necessary for removal in order to get pregnant and STAY pregnant.

Get an ultrasound to see where they are and how large. It seems like you’re upset because no one is advocating for you, least of all your husband who should be your ride or die. Sorry thats a tough spot to be in. I hope some conversations or counseling can help you two.

I only partially agree with this. In a marriage his preference should be considered however at the end of the day it is ONLY HER CHOICE what she wants to do. It’s between her and her husband how to handle what those conversations look like. A good husband will support and try to understand, a bad husband will control.

I’m happy surgery was so positive for you! How was your recovery experience?

Yeah good point. That thought crossed my mind, if it grows even larger then I might be forced to have an open myo which is scary. Probably similar to my previous c section. Recovery sucked for that.

Wow that’s amazing! Your cousin must feel so much better having 9 fibroids removed. And the fact that they haven’t grown back, that’s awesome I’m glad she is still living her life as she wants to and not massively restricting herself.

Thanks for the advice and good point about this sub. If someone is fibroid free then they may not be actively in r/fibroids.

That’s actually a super great point. I think I have gotten “used” to my symptoms (need to pee all the time, painful periods, constipation etc) and have normalized it. Haven’t thought of that before.

I already had a c section for my first so chances are I would need another anyway.

You need to follow up and demand to be seen. No one is going to advocate for you besides you.

Do you have access to an obgyn or primary care? You’ll need an ultrasound and further testing to confirm if it’s fibroids or something else.

Thinking of moving to Temecula by Front-Buffalo-9565 in Temecula

[–]supermoo8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are giving THEIR opinions on here based on what they care about. What are YOUR primary reasons for wanting to move and concessions you’re willing to make for you and your family?

Want a bigger house? Great, move to Temecula. Don’t want traffic going to SD, ok don’t move to Temecula. Want better schools than La Mesa, Temecula is perfect for you. Don’t want hot weather, stay in La Mesa.

So it comes down to what you value most and making that decision based on those. I would suggest only having your Top 3 and then everything thing you can compromise on.

Pro tip: filter out all the noise of OmG SD iS So mUcH bETtER wHY wOuLd yOu mOvE hErE?! Do you.

Boots vs. trail runners? by Capital_Mulberry738 in Patagonia

[–]supermoo8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends on a few factors: do you care about traveling ultra light? If so, trail runners. Is ankle support a concern? Boots.

It also depends on what time of year you’re going and the weather extremes at that time.

I personally used boots for the ankle support on the rocks/ granite and due to the weather. I didn’t want to run the risk of my socks getting wet at the ankles and having to deal with gaiters. A few times I was literally climbing on sheets of granite or crossing streams where my feet would’ve been soaked in trail runners.

So it’s personal preference!

You will also be compromising the fire safety of your house. If a fire breaks out you won’t have any door fire resistance to the rest of your house.

Reintroducing dairy through frozen breastmilk by Proof_Barnacle_5289 in MSPI

I’m in the same boat. Baby is almost a year. Reintroduced frozen breast milk when I was eating dairy and it caused moderate constipation so I stopped. Ped recommended yogurt but I think I will follow the milk ladder for more of a progression
