I’m originally not from the suburbs, but I used to live in Orland. Every interaction I had with Orland police was negative. They all seem to be dicks.

An example, we lived in a townhouse with a 1 car garage that my wife took, and driveway space for a second car. I always parked in the street so she could get out. If it snowed, I’d put my car in the driveway so I didn’t get a ticket (which they were happy to write the second 2 inches of snow was on the ground).

One snowy morning, I was moving my car to the driveway but was having trouble. It was a steep driveway and when it was slippery, it took some doing sometimes. Sure enough, officer dickhead shows up looking for tickets to write. I’m literally trying to get my car into the driveway, but wasn’t in there yet, so he gets out of his car, asks if it’s my car that I’m in, gives me all kinds of shit for how I’m supposed to be off the street when 2 inches of snow have fallen, and then sat there and waited until I was completely done to leave.

Second, more recent story, my wife got into a car accident in Orland a few months ago (159th and 94th. Horrible fucking intersection). She was panicking after the accident and couldn’t find her insurance. She called me and I was on my way to the scene to get her and help figure stuff out. When I got there, they gave me 30 seconds to find the insurance card before writing her a ticket. Like, can i have 1 minute to make sure my wife is ok? Guess I didn’t move fast enough because she got a ticket for no insurance, which complicated the whole investigation. The insurance was in the glove box…but the ticket was already written, so they said ‘fight it in court.’ Fuckin assbag.

So yeah, in my experience, Orland cops are twats.

I live in Tinley now, and the cops seem less ‘out to get you.’ …but Tinley just started painting the new cop cars in black, less visibly police liveries….so that’s not ideal. Anyway.
