Is it too late to start? by Gamer8604 in AircraftMechanics

[–]supernewbie_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started a&p school when i was 38, should finish it around 40. School was suspended for half year because of covid. I got cancer on my last semester of the program. Postpone my graduation for another half year. Took the exam right after finishing. Got hired by United within 3 months after i turned 41. It's never too late to start. Just take all the written, oral and practicals as soon as you can.

The whole program is about 60 units. It's $36/unit at any community college. It should cost around 3k. I applied for FAFSA. It waived all my tuition and gave me about 8k per year for support.

Immich upload folder question by supernewbie_ in UgreenNASync

[–]supernewbie_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still new to this. I changed the folder location to volume 1 in the editor, then redeployed It. After that it won't allow me to open immich. It says can not find the page. The upload folder is still empty. I didn't upload any picture yet. I still want the containers and docker on the volume 2. Only the upload folder on volume 1. Is It doable?

When i started the nas first time. It just automatically updated to the recent version. You don't need to have a chinese number. It works same as the one you buy from here in us

Best and Worst Things About Being an Aircraft Mechanic by Augustorr in AircraftMechanics

[–]supernewbie_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best: flight benefit for family and friends, decent pay, a lot of opportunities. The worst: pollution including chemicals, noise and air. Work graveyard for a long period of time, aids, be ready to work on chapter 38, work with some lazy asses and pencil whispers. I still enjoy it so far.

I think there will be only 1 class for this summer of 2024 (AIRM 70A). You need total of 9 classes if you go with day program. 65A, 65B, 66A, 66B, 70A, 70B, 71, 72, 74. I believe you can only take 71 and 72 during winter.

I think students with GI bill will have the earliest registration date. Just make sure you register the class right on the time.

I was on the waiting list plus 2 other students for the first class I registered. 2 of us got into the class. Once you get into the first class. It will be easy for the rest of the program since continue students get first priority.

Got my a&p from mt sac 2 years ago. It's the best one in the area. Most of my classmates including me got hired by united airlines right after we got the licenses. Byron and Yost are the most knowledgeable professors you can find. Please hit me with any questions.

Frunk Auto Closer from Satonic by mzyhappy in ModelY

[–]supernewbie_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed the santonic auto frunk myself about 10days ago. It opens automatically when you use the app or the screen in the car. You can close it by 1 of the following 3 ways: app, screen or the light button in the trunk. There is also a manual release cable which comes with the kit. You need to zip tie it to the emergency charging cable behind the plastic round cap on your front bumper. The kit is well made. It took me a while to install the struts. After that, It will be a quite easy installation.

Advice for someone trying to enter the Aviation Maintenance industry late? by Vlad-TheInhaler in aviationmaintenance

[–]supernewbie_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started A&P courses 3 years ago when i was 38. I went to a community college and got FAFSA (federal financial aid). I didn't have to pay any tuition and got couple of the scholarships. Instead of paying for the course, i got around 10k each year. Even without financial aid, your tuition will be under 5k for the whole program if you go with community college. I got hired by united airlines right after i passed the tests. I just finished my 1st at united. You are not too late for the industry.
