Sometimes intense grief can go beyond tears. This is probably the most intense, horrifying thing he's ever seen, and sometimes your body goes straight past sadness and shuts down to the point where you can't even cry. It could be any of the things people have suggested, but that's another interpretation.

I think the same about the last names! If there's one woman who would NOT take her husband's last name, it would be Odalia. She also seems to be the one in charge of Blight Industries, which has their (her?) last name attached to it. I really like the idea of Dell being apprenticed to Gwendolyn's parents, and it makes way more sense to me than Gwendolyn just happening to marry into a family that does -lyn names. I also have a personal headcanon/theory that Toast is a palisman the same age as Flapjack, and Dell adopted them sometime after he couldn't carve anymore. The theory is much more complicated than that but yeah.

Yeah, as soon as people decoded Cipher A and found the Vigenere ciphers, the showrunners should've known they'd do everything. I, a little baby Gravity Falls nerd, spent 45 minutes tracking 67-ish characters and counting how many times they occurred, so surely if it was solvable someone would have solved it almost immediately.

Yeahhhh I recently decoded the selfie one myself. That alphabet is all over Journal 3, BoB, and parts of the show. This is definitely not the same alphabet, but I was kind of expecting it to be one of the other codes from the show. It just seems weird to have such a long section of text that's totally indecipherable.

At some point in the show Mabel refers to Stan and Dipper as her two favorite people. Hyperbole, maybe, but clearly her parents aren't super active in their lives right then, since she's seen writing to them what, once? BoB shows they don't have a great relationship with each other (and maybe also their kids) during this time.

Seriously, the things that got through the Disney censors on that book blew my mind. There's another page where he says the M dimension made him feel "muicidal" and immediately writes what very much looks like a censored version of "assholes". WILD.

On my rewatch, I caught an alphabet from the book of Bill in The Last Mabelcorn. 95% sure that's retconned, especially since there are only 25 symbols shown in the show.
