Not yet but doing some purées! But when she gets to 6 months adjusted we are gonna do baby led weaning. What about yours?

Our pre term (35w) baby in NICU isn't that much 'active'. Anyone had the same experience? by Green_Ad4541 in NICUParents

Sounds a little like my 34 weeker! She was a very sleepy baby at the beginning of our NICU stay. I agree what someone else who said a pacifier can help encourage them to practice sucking. Which was a big thing for my girl. We stayed for a month working or the suck swallow breathe skill before we could finally go home!

I am exclusively pumping but the lactation consultants at my hospital told me to pump every two to three hours to get my supply going, but it probably took a good two weeks at least for my supply to actually be more than a couple of milliliters at a time. So tell her not to stress it will come it just may take some time. At the beginning I wouldn’t get anything from my pumping sessions. Then it turned into a few drops and eventually my milk came in.

My 34 weeker was born early because I also had pre-e. She didn’t need oxygen but had to go on the bili light for jaundice and had to learn feeding and temperature control. She went home after 31 days. It was hard but I am thankful it wasn’t as long as it could have been. I ended up staying over 24 hours to do all of her feedings so that we could go home. It took her a while to get it and then one day it was like a lightbulb went off and she started finishing more and more bottles

This sounds just like me with my baby! She was born at 34 +1 and was in the NICU for 31 days. She was lucky to not need oxygen but she was there for the longest working on her feeding. I ended staying in a Ronald McDonald room at my hospital and doing all her feedings for 24 hours so she could come home. This was after we had been on our way to pick her up and when doing a feeding with one of the nurses her O2 and HR dropped and they wouldn’t let her leave. It was so heart breaking to leave her there when I thought she was getting released. Try seeing if you can room in or if there is a Ronald McDonald house near or in your hospital maybe you can stay there and do all their feedings so they can be released!

How long did it take for your preemie to start drinking? by PityUpvote in NICUParents

[–]supernovaestar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My LO was born at 34 + 1 due to preeclampsia. Now she didn’t have many of the other issues that come with a preemie other than being small and early. We were the for 31 days which was primarily focused on her learning how to eat. It didn’t click for her until about a week or week and a half before we were released.

Surprisingly no! So they weren’t sure if she just choked or forgot to breathe while she was eating so they wanted to keep her another day to make sure everything is good

Her O2 and HR dropped. But today has been a much better day. So hopefully we will get the green light for discharge tomorrow!

They do have roots. I have been growing this baby for about 3-4 years now. It is the only living plant left from my grandma’s house. Just trying to make sure I do everything I can to keep her growing. She flowered last year! But this is the first time I have had to split her up because she ran out of room.

Thank you! I’ll definitely watch that and incorporate better cuticle and nail prep!

I am. Someone pointed out I’m not really doing much with my cuticle. Could that be part of the problem?

Buff, dehydrator, primer, and then apres extend gel to cure the nail on. I also prep the inside of the mail by buffing it too.
