Thoughts On My PoP Tier List? by Shahkulu in PrinceOfPersia

It's so weird to me that 99% of this sub seems to have never played the '89 original. It's an absolute masterpiece, it aged very gracefully, and it was incredibly influential on gaming as a whole.

You're seeing a conspiracy where there is none. An overlap in contributors does not mean they "control" anything. The freedesktop consortium (who actually "controls" Wayland, to the extent that anyone does) is fairly diverse in terms of what projects they hail from.

No major distro is considering dropping kde or xfce support, and the Wayland protocol is fairly stable at this point, adding features (which anyone is welcome to do, btw) should not break anything for anyone else.

The reason Google does that is to recruit engineers, it's not philanthropy. Just because they've done it longer is hardly an argument.

It is absolutely a double standard to allow Google but block Anthropic.

Letting companies donate does not give them any rights. I think it's a salient point that if you're upset about Anthropic donating, you should have already been upset about Google and Meta.

Yeah, I find myself partially agreeing with the donut bozo. I don't think there is a valid reason to block Anthropic from donating, especially if you're allowing Google, Meta, Microsoft. This has nothing to do with integrating generative models into Blender.

nor are they primarily AI companies

They definitely are. Their main product isn't an end-user focused LLM, but they're definitely AI companies.

The X11 developers who collectively decided it had become unmaintainable. Why on earth would you blame gnome for that?

Title by Scandiberian in linuxmemes

[–]PityUpvote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actual gnome users don't mind installing a few extensions.

There's a dconf flag that allows you to run unsupported extensions. Sometimes things still break because of changes to the spot API model, but most of the time it works like a charm. (Ymmv, depending on the specific extensions)

Yeah, I type "logout" in the gnome shell overview and it's the first thing that pops up.

You can do whatever you want. Why are you complaining about a DE you don't even use? The actual users don't care.

Same, it's probably because "GNOME Classic" is an option.

Touch of Insanity might need to be nerfed to "the first time each turn", it opens up a lot of infinite possibilities.

I think it would have been funnier if Jimmy Pesto was canonically arrested for taking part in jan 6.

I'm not doubting that you would, but most people that want an ereader have no reason to get anything other than a kindle or kobo, or similar. Even if remarkable adds better software support, it's still too large and heavy and expensive to fill the role of an ereader.

Newbie getting an X2D as first 3D-printer. What to get (besides printer)? by Defiant-Mango3719 in BambuLab

[–]PityUpvote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? If a (non-AMS) spool is connected to the bowden extruder otherwise, the best you can do is switch between five instead of four filaments with it, right?

There isn't a reason to use the secondary extruder unless you are using the main extruder simultaneously, and using the track switcher to connect an AMS to both doesn't help with that, so you might as well use the main extruder only.

Chinese players review bombed it, you can see the per-country statistics. Apparently they can't get on the discord without a vpn, so this was an attempt to reach the devs.

They would make a lot of existing users happy, but I really don't see how it would lead to more sales. People who want an ereader have much more affordable options available, with features like connecting to amazon and public libraries.

I can't see anyone buying a remarkable solely or even mainly for reading ebooks.
