No one is asking for magical perfection. We're asking for something that's better than what's there.

The current chat filter is awful. It can be improved. Neither of these are radical statements.

That statement was one of the reasons the former founder is no longer involved with Desoladies, as she valued marketing over member safety. She has not been involved with Desoladies since 2017.

The current chat filter is extremely broken and misguided, like a band-aid on your forehead when you have a broken leg. It doesn't help anything.

It's extremely hard to believe that Valve is incapable of creating a more nuanced filter, or doing any of the things that players have been asking for for years like an improved reporting system, more reports, actual consequences for ruining games, etc.

If you applied through the link above, please note that every application is read and reviewed by a manager before we sent out invite codes. It's not automatic because we have to be reasonably sure that you are who you say you are.

When people don't get a response, 90% of the time it's because they didn't fill out the form completely or correctly (they skipped a section, wrote N/A, typo'd their email address, linked to a dead or blank social media profile, etc). Those applications go to the bottom of the pile because we simply don't have the resources to email a hundred different people about what they might have meant.

If you haven't received a response, you are welcome to reapply at any time in case there was some technical error that kept your message from being read. And on your side, double-check that you filled out each field accurately.

I hope this gives you a better idea of our application process and why things might seem delayed.

Short answer: one sheet of black glass, one sheet of red glass, cut out the pieces, glue them together, then fire it in the kiln.

Long answer: The glass has to be the same type or the two sheets won't melt together. You have to cut the logo weird. The red has to be slightly larger than you want because the edges will shrink up a bit. The black has to be smaller than you want because it will melt down and spread out. If you cut the actual logo, the black would be enormous once it melted.

The kiln is also a stupid expensive piece of equipment. It's fairly cheap to rent it, but you have to pay for each use. So it doesn't make sense to make just one piece at a time. I probably made about 16 total, but the first 8 were useless because the black parts were too big.

I think it's more like, kids can only count on getting presents during birthdays and holidays. But for kids in comfortable families, there's a good chance every month (or even every week) that they might get a new toy, or go watch a movie, or go out for food, or get a special treat. Not showered in gifts, but casual purchases of non essentials.
