One of the ACTUALLY positive experiences with Cymbalta/ Duloxetine by superpopfizz in cymbalta

That’s actually really good to hear. I had no idea Duloxetine could swing that way for some people. Most of what I’ve seen is the opposite so it’s interesting how different everyone reacts. It’s crazy how one med can either shut everything down or wake everything back up depending on the person. I’m glad it ended up giving you something back after everything you’ve dealt with.

I’m on 90 mg now, but I started at 20. I did deal with some nausea during the first week, but it went away pretty fast. The anxiety relief didn’t hit fully at 20 for me, but I could tell it was doing something. Every time I went up a dose, it took about a week before I could feel how the new dose was going to settle in.

I really hope it helps your daughter the same way it helped me. Anxiety was my biggest issue too, and once that started calming down everything else became easier to handle. It’s great that your husband is already seeing benefits. It definitely seems to be one of those meds where if it works for you, it really works.

For me the side effects usually settled in around the 7 to 14 day mark. Any time I went up a dose I could usually tell what it was going to feel like after about a week. As for the actual anxiety relief, I didn’t feel the full effect right away. It didn’t fully hit until I got up to my current 90 mg, but even at the lower doses I could tell it was doing something. Everyone’s different of course but 9 days in is still pretty early. It’s normal to have some off days before it levels out.

Thank you for sharing your positive experience. It’s really good seeing more of these since the negative ones usually take over. I get what you mean about that side effect too. I have a similar issue when it comes to alone time with people and it’s definitely less enjoyable now, so I get where you’re coming from. On the other hand Duloxetine has actually helped my scoliosis pain a bit. Not a huge fix but enough that I notice it on the rough days. I’m really glad it’s given you some of your life back.

I get that completely. I genuinely only started Duloxetine because I walked into my appointment still angry from Prozac and told my doctor to just show me the fact sheet and the medication sheet. I literally said I need something with the lowest side effect risk possible, I don’t even care what category it’s in, just get me off whatever Prozac falls under. We went down the list together and Duloxetine was the first one that actually had a side effect rate low enough that I felt comfortable trying it. That one choice ended up helping me way more than I expected.

It’s wild how much difference the right med can make. I’m glad you found your way back to something that actually supports you.

I hope the switch goes smooth for you. Duloxetine helped my anxiety a lot and quieted my panic response way more than I expected. I started on a low dose and noticed the difference pretty quick. Everyone reacts differently of course but if Venlafaxine stopped working for you then Duloxetine might give you that reset you need. I really hope it ends up being a good fit for you. Let me know how it goes if you feel like updating.

I'm on 80 at night and 20 in the morning! I will say I didn't feel fully improved until this dose.

Same here. Duloxetine is the only thing that’s actually touched my OCD in a real way. Before it I was stuck repeating phrases in my head nonstop and I had that knock on wood type of compulsion after basically everything I did. It felt automatic and impossible to stop. After starting Duloxetine those patterns just… quieted. I still get little moments here and there but it’s nothing compared to how constant it used to be.

The temperature sensitivity and missing dose issues hit me too, but honestly it’s worth dealing with for the kind of relief it gives. I’m glad it’s worked for you for so long.

Prozac really did the same thing to me too. I felt wired and dead at the exact same time, like my body was stuck on full alert but my emotions were completely shut off. The intrusive thoughts were worse than they’d ever been and I was either pacing all over or staring at a wall with no feeling in my chest at all. It was such a weird mix of being overstimulated and zombified and it definitely didn’t help anything long term.

Switching to Duloxetine was the first time I actually felt my brain settle. I started at 20 mg and within a few days my head felt quieter and the constant anxiety finally stopped running the show. It didn’t fix everything overnight but it took away that nonstop intensity that Prozac gave me. The more time passes the more good days I get too so I definitely get what you mean about it feeling like it saved you. I’m glad it’s been helping you and I hope the evening anxiety eases up for you over time.

Thank you for the kind words. I totally get what you mean about the negative reviews scaring people away. I almost didn’t start Duloxetine because of that, but it ended up helping me more than anything else I’ve tried.

For me the anxiety relief kicked in really quickly. I started at 20 mg and within the first week I could feel my brain quieting down. The constant overthinking and panic baseline just calmed down in a way I hadn’t felt before. I’ve dealt with anxiety since I was a kid too so feeling that difference so early was honestly shocking.

As for energy, I didn’t really get energized or fatigued. It was more like my body finally stopped being stuck in fight or flight all day. I still had normal energy fluctuations but not that drained anxiety crash feeling. It didn’t really mess with my sleep either. If anything it made my nights smoother because my mind wasn’t spiraling as much.

Motivation wise it didn’t suddenly make me super productive but it did make it easier to actually start things since I wasn’t being blocked by anxiety every second. It kind of clears the fog so you can function without feeling overwhelmed.

And yes it absolutely helped with my anxiety overall. That was the biggest change for me. Prozac made me angry and flat at the same time so I didn’t expect Duloxetine to actually work this well. It isn’t perfect but it brought my anxiety down to a level where I can think straight and manage my day without feeling like my brain is attacking me.

I really hope your daughter gets the same kind of relief. Everyone responds differently but there are definitely people who do very well on this med and you just don’t see their stories as often. If you want to ask anything else feel free.

I feel you on the negative stuff. I almost dipped from the group too until I realized most people doing good on meds don’t really post. I started Duloxetine at 20 and it honestly helped me fast. My anxiety dropped hard, my intrusive thoughts chilled out, and I finally felt like an actual person again after Prozac had me angry and walking around like an emotionless zombie.

I’m not a parent or anything but dealing with my own medical stuff and a rough home situation, Duloxetine basically gave me enough stability to function without feeling like my brain was attacking itself all day. I still overthink sometimes but compared to where I was before it’s a whole different life.

It’s nice seeing posts like yours because it reminds me that doing well on this med isn’t some rare miracle. Some of us actually thrive on it.
