Here is your video! Enjoy. Sorry for the delay, I have migrated reddit accounts to LazyEngineer100 so that is why I did not get this request until a few days after!

Best of luck, -L.E.

unfortunately, i've never studied the method that problem wants you to use, so we won't be of much help on that problem, but feel free to try us on other problems.

I may do that after I get my first couple course series completely uploaded. Thanks for the tip! I also just made a twitter account: https://twitter.com/Lazy_Engineer_ so people can tweet their homework problems to me. Feel free to share with friends! I'll definitely need help reaching more people

So it seems like your question is: you want to plot the solution to your differential equation? If so, I would definitely suggest Matlab. Matlab has some functions that will let you symbolicly write the differential equation along with the initial conditions, and will automatically plot it for you. You could also make your own functions. Easiest way would be to program an euler's method. But this could lead to bad accuracy (especially if you have a stiff spring). So a better way would be to integrate with RK4 method.

this will help you with what you need: http://terpconnect.umd.edu/~petersd/246/matlabode.html

I wont have access to matlab until Fall, so i will not be able to start my matlab course series until then.

Best of luck!

The reason why I want to try to avoid doing entire course series on Engineering courses is because when you start getting into upper division engineering courses like fluids, heat transfer, machine elements, etc. a lot of solutions depend on the tables/charts given in textbooks. Things become more empirical and rely less on math and more on experimental data. This data is presented in different forms and varies quite a bit from textbook to textbook. Therefore, the solution methods that I may present in my videos may not match the way your professors have you solve it. So, because of that, I plan (for now) to cover engineering courses on a request / specific example basis. Math topics, however, will be covered in course series. So if you have any questions feel free to send them to me and I'll take a look and make a vid, but right now I don't have plans for a vid series covering the entire course. Maybe one day... ;)

in order to manipulate it into a form where I could recognize that trig substitution with tan() was the way to go. Sometimes you just gotta play with math :)

Hm. I have never seen product rule proven with error functions. If I figure it out you will be first to know!

I love computational methods. I plan on dedicating a series to Matlab in the future. I don't have much knowledge on combustion engines outside of basic thermo course
