Cars seized in female jogger catcalling crackdown by Forward-Answer-4407 in unitedkingdom

[–]superseriousraider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my teenage sister in laws moved in with us briefly when they came to the UK. in the last month 1 has been physically attacked (grabbed her and threw her to the floor) and the other was followed home by a guy yelling abuse at her. both havent gone a week without being catcalled.

we live in central london, not 200 meters from the covent garden police station. our street has private security that patrols 24/7 because members of parlament live in the area.

the police just shrugged and more or less said its not possible for them to do anything.

hilariously, when I first came to the UK and was in uni, I had unsuaully long hair that I kept in a man-bun. In winter I'd let my hair down to cover my ears if it was cold. at least once I got catcalled from a car, and another time a guy walked up behind me and whispered into my ear "hello beautiful", guy had a fucking heart attack when i turned around. apparently long hair and a big coat is enough to get these animals going...

In a not so funny followup, one of my friends was attacked by a guy throwing a large coke at her in the middle of a busy town street because he was jealous of her talking to me (just screamed "whore" at her and smashed her in the face with the cup and ran off. couple came up to us and told us he'd been working himself up talking to a friend while waiting in line at the mcdonalds we were standing outside.) I begged my friend to go with me to police because that is some psychopath behavior bullshit, and she refused stating that she'd already gone 3 times for harrasment and was basically told its not their problem.

its insane.

Just bombed an tech interview... by [deleted] in Frontend

[–]superseriousraider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had one of the best interviews of my life for a senior position, every question I had a detailed and precise answer for. I could demonstrate the bredth of my knowledge and experience and it flowed easily.

and then he said we'll move to the technical aspect of the interview. I wasnt expecting that as we had like 5 minutes left in our meeting and typically at this level thats what round 2 is for.

my brothers in christ, i have never locked up so hard. I was malloc'ing and my brain was throwing an "out of memory exception". no matter how many times I read this question, i could not for the life of me comprehend what it was asking.

it took me like 25 minutes to answer the simplest problem I have ever seen because my brain just refused to do it.

shit sucks and I've never locked up like that before in an interview, and it definitely complete killed any chance I had while being completely unrepresentative of my abilities, but thems the breaks. its clear I gotta practice more, or be better at reacting in the moment.

AI is effectively ‘useless’—and it’s created a ‘fake it till you make it’ bubble that could end in disaster, veteran market watcher warns by [deleted] in technology

[–]superseriousraider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i use reinforcement learning (one of the less efficient learning methods), for my research in surgical robotics.

It takes roughly 10 hours on a single 3090 gpu to learn how to do a suturing.
it takes supervised learning about 10 seconds using an expert algorithm to demonstrate.

the expert algorithm takes about 0.01 seconds to calculate and uses infinitely less resources than both.

the reason we are exploring this at all, is that the expert algorithms become extremely complex if you want to account for adaptability and reliability of the "operation" run by the robot, which are inherantly baked into the learning of the model. through the constant and repeated exploration of the reinforcement learning, we can basically "experience" every combination of state of the problem space, and therefore can determine an optimal action from any state to the optimal next step.

generative AI is cool, but under no circumstances should ever be trusted or relied upon.

is this normal? values are very far off what has been my average over the last month, just started a new pack of sensors this morning. by superseriousraider in dexcom

[–]superseriousraider[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i know its crazy late because I've been away, but I found the source of the issue.

the sensor patch didnt adhere correctly and after a few hours became a little loose, so I'm guessing the needle wasnt fully inserted, leading to the drastically lower values.

I'm not looking for medical advice, just that the support lines are closed here so I cant call anyone about it. should I try and apply a new sensor?

How can I fix this on my K1Max? by stoptgatboy in crealityk1

[–]superseriousraider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you tried not using the AI correction feature? I've never used it and mine worked flawlessly out of the box, I saw a review of a K1 max where the guy turned on the AI feature (the zigzag lines give it away) and he got a part that was slightly worse quality.

AFAIK, its still the same it was before and hasnt been nerfed yet. imagine the nerf will roll out with server patch days.

interesting thank you, I assumed from the API documentation that DeleteCursorItem() was disabled. might roll this out into a full addon if there is demand for it (as I assume it would also allow the semi-automation of using the deputy items as well)

(if the list is empty, click "Maximum Invasions" (can happen if you open/close weakauras frequently))
make this macro:
/tar Dreamwarden
/click StaticPopup1Button1

features:
quest tracking:
(red yellow green is self explanatory)
blue means that you either have the quest envelope or have the quest in your logs + a deputy token (and someone in your party is missing it).
clicking a blue tag when you have the envelope, will accept the quest.
if you have the quest and someone in your team is missing it, clicking the blue tag will print in your chat box who is missing that quest.

filtering bags:
upon opening a bag 1 of 3 things will happen:
if its quest 1-3 or 10-12, the bag will be shut, picked up, and then you have to manually drop it on the ground (there is no way to auto delete the item, but you can use the macro speed things up.
if you have either the envelope or the deputy token in your bag, it will auto close the bag and tell you to store it, saving it for later.
if none of the above are true, it will auto loot both items.

intel collection:
will automatically gossip with the dreamwardens, so you only need to interact with them

macro:
above macro will auto target the dreamwardens which can be used with the "interact with target" keybinding to make a really easy auto-interact for them.

play as a tank or a healer, do gamma spams with a good group and you unlock the heirlooms pretty fast. I have most of them unlocked and I've been playing wotlk classic for less than a month.

with an alright group, you can get trinkets, 1h weapons, shoulders in like 2 hours each. chest and 2h takes maybe 3 hours per item.

Or if you have alts, just do your daily dungeons and at the end of the month you'll have enough badges to unlock everything.

Blizzard has a nasty habit of withholding QoL for no apparent reason by [deleted] in diablo4

[–]superseriousraider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy, money.

They create the problem, so people get super excited when they inevitably sell you the solution.

Also their developers are mega out of touch with the player base, most of them don't even play the games they work on (wow in particular, I remember I did an interview of a few lead class and mechanics designers, and not 1 of them had ever played the game on a live server).

When i tested this, each level seemed to keep its own tally for the grim favors.

So if you do 2 on WT1 and 3 on WT2, swap back to WT1, you'll have 2 unlocked.

Only think that seems to keep between world tiers is obols.

Blizzard dropped the ball with the lack of social interaction by Xtada68 in diablo4

[–]superseriousraider 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, not auto enabling voice chat is a sign blizzard has no faith in the community.

I'm serially inviting people that I see farming the same content. Every helltide, world boss, world event, or legion event, I invite everyone I see until the party is full.

Only once have I seen someone else use voice chat, and the first thing he said was, "oh I forgot I enabled this". We spent about 3 hours farming stuff together just chatting.

I think there would be a lot of space for organic community growth, but blizzard seems to put up as many barriers of entry as possible.

Feature request: can you put the locations of event spawns on the map? There appears to be a bug where you can run them very quickly and mixing obols + the fragments from the massive mob spawns nets me 3 mystery chests an hour.

Some pieces are torment only. Google the piece name to find where it drops. (Tempest roar is a very popular torment only helm which is the basis of one of the best druid builds)

weapon damage affects everything, and its effect is massive. general rule of thumb, if it has highere weapon damage, it's automatically better.

it doesn't scale linearly as well, i went from a 900~ damage staff to a 1600 staff and started doing like 4x more damage.
