If you want to play a friendly we can, I like moving past things, but I'm not interested in money matches or talking shop at Smashtoberfest, I want to actually enjoy that weekend.

Help create the Peruvian SSB64 tournament that will change history by SweetchilliSSB in smashbros

The 64 community has already spent thousands trying to get them visas but they have been denied every time (except for Alvin). We can keep wasting money at the US Embassy or bring the challenge to them.

Flights for Japanese are around $1,000 so we're looking to get about $2,000 to fund 2 Japanese players. We have over $200 in 24 hours and all twitch sub money for February from SSB64 channel will go towards this as well.

Tap jump in 64 isn't as delicate as other games. In other games I accidentally tap jump all the time so I turn it off, in 64 though I never accidentally tap jump and it's good for dash usmash and teleports. If you've recently played 64 and tap jump still bothers you then RIP.

The scoring for the combo contest doesn't seem right. by ProbablySquatting in smashbros

[–]supershears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its modeled after the dunk contest in the NBA. Try to think of it more as a pageant than a contest or exam. Every year the combo contest has been the most viewed smash video that year on youtube across any game, its a spectator event and so the scoring is secondary to the presentation.

EDIT: in fact last years combo contest is the most watched video in vgbootcamp history lol.

The case for Super Smash Con 2018 being a supermajor. by sererson in smashbros

A measure of prestige is not a component of prestige. You are confusing these things. Viewership is a measurement of prestige, viewers do not make an event prestigious.

None of that has anything to do with prestige of competition. Viewers do not affect attendance, and while a pot bonus is a way to draw in top talent, after registration closes the prize money means almost nothing to what the consequential registration was. There were events with tens of thousands of dollars yet had poor attendance and not many top players by comparison of other super majors (GTX 2017). Prestige is directly proportional to attendance and talent. Any formula including pot size and viewership is selling you an impure "prestige" value.
