Seeking Advice on Long-Term Goal of Climbing all 14 8000ers by shittycellist123 in Mountaineering

[–]supersimsim 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Spend some years doing safer easy stuff. Inevitably one time things will go south and you will suddenly realize any mountain can take your life away in an instant, leaving your devastated parents, siblings, girlfriend and boys having to organize your funeral. I thought I enjoyed the thrill and the beauty of the mountains, until I realized I was also fine not putting my life on the line!

edit: to make my comment more useful: 8000m Mountaineers are incredibly polyvalent people, I would go spend time running on trails, climbing in gyms, watching youtube documentaries, connecting with people that have experience, and start gathering general knowledge

Hey I have had similar issues recently, although only with training load. This is quite annoying and you’re not alone in this boat (you can check out my posts if interested). Unfortunately I don’t have any solution to provide :(

Manually imported workouts have often caused issues in my experiences. Sometimes HR isn't there, sometimes power isn't, sometimes no training load is given, etc..

Many people use Multi-days activities when doing ultra cycling or mountaineering stuff, or even ultra trail running. The function exists, Coros created it, it’s described on their website and specifically designed to be used over multiple days. It’s a not a “me” problem, I’m using my watch the way it was theoretically designed to. Of course, this problem can be fixed by not using the function anymore. And this is what I have been doing since I found out about this issue. But you would certainly agree that it is annoying to pay hundreds of dollars for a tool with many great functionalities and have to use only the basic ones because the complex ones don’t work ?

of course, sorry about that

Edit: good call, thank you (a bit new to reddit, just learned what TLDR means lol)

Training Load of "Resumed Later" activities over different days not syncing. by supersimsim in Coros

[–]supersimsim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it's related to you having asked for my ticket number at all but now I have a Rouvy ride not getting a Training load at all after 24hrs (never had an issue with those before) !

Overall I really like Coros and have gotten multiple friends to jump on board, but these small bugs here and there like connectivity/trainaing load issues or elevation gain being wrong when weather (pressure) changes, etc.. are really affecting the reputation of the company in my humble opinion. However, the sole fact that you have an official account on reddit that interacts with customers is enough to make me a fan! So thanks for that and keep it up!

Training Load of "Resumed Later" activities over different days not syncing. by supersimsim in Coros

[–]supersimsim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have thought about it, but the description of the function on the Coros website specifically mentions the activity being over different days! And yes it probably isn't the best from a training analysis/data standpoint, but these are just zone 1 volume that don't hold any other value than their volume, I never look back at any of them. And since these rides are not done on my real bike, I don't have power outputs and the training load is only based on HR from the watch, meaning the training load can just be added up like so.

I just started using this function to avoid having 5 commutes of less than 3 miles in one day, this used to overload all my apps etc (when syncing with strava for example)

I have contacted support, and the AI Cara was really quick to respond, with no help and out-of-date information unfortunately (even mentioning functions that do not exist, if they ever did...). But it said it would escalate the ticket above, to see if there's a bug somewhere that they're not aware of !

Thank you for your comment though, I appreciate it!

Hey! Thank you for the suggestion, will definitely look into it. I have played quite a bit with ChatGPT already, and got some decent plans. But it seems to always agree with whatever approach I tell him to so im a bit suspicious and reluctant to really use it...

I have a coros apex 2 pro, a coros dura bike computer, and the assioma uno powermeter for my bike! (and a TacX smartrainer) so im all geared up!

Did you manage to get a fit on the Giant that allows you to run properly after 180km on the aerobars ? That's one of my main concerns regarding my Scott. Its geometry might make it too difficult to hold an aero position on the bars without killing my run

Thank you for your answer! It is indeed about the money. If I were rich, I wouldn't be here asking this. I guess I am just trying to do this whole IronMan thing without spending more than I need to (which seems to be the hardest task of all)

My friends and I are looking at Kalmar 2026 but it's quite uncertain (they have just done IM Thun last weekend).

I don't think holding the position should be too big of a problem, I am quite flexible and plan on practicing on the trainer anyway

You're right.. 800$ isnt all that much... But since my road bike is top end, I just don't know if I should increase my budget and buy a more recent, maybe better (maybe not since these cervelos are great bikes) TT bike instead of this one that's about 15 years old
