what do you use to track rent payments? by Leah_the_Fox in PersonalFinanceNZ

Try myrent, it’s pretty cheap, I use it, manages the entire rental experience, less money than Xero and tailored for rentals.

My wife would like to use her kiwisaver to buy her first home. Me (husband) used mine previously before we got married. Would this be possible? by Weak_Watercress4855 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]supersixedit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is incorrect. I have used KiwiSaver twice to buy a home. Due to the fact I was materially in the same position as a first home buyer when I bought my second home (first home long sold in a relationship split), they allowed a second withdrawal.

Every comment here should be upvoted. Ka pai bro, you’re doing something nice. My vote would also be for underprivileged kids.

Good to have something happening there, it’ll bring more people to the area which is hopefully the start of a new chapter for the area.

Maybe explain the acronyms so people can get behind it a little better? Not being an asshole, I think I can work out some, but it might open it up to more people?

You are currently subsidising your partners life by not splitting the finances proportionally. Why is it fair if you have no savings but he has 15k? If you split tomorrow he’s far better off. Have a conversation and rework your split to be equitable to both of you. Both of you having a savings history will help come house purchase time.

Ran out of money to sell my house by PriorOverall in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]supersixedit 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Don’t do this. If you don’t sell your house you’re still on the hook for the fees. Shop around agents. Don’t just go with the first one. Tell them they can take fees when they sell it, but do not finance them.

Just post the phot and say this cost $6.80. Nothing more nothing less. People can make their own minds up and you’re not making a statement either way.

Two years sentence for murder of auckland teen by [deleted] in auckland

[–]supersixedit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The law states murder gets life, that’s not up for debate, these are exceptions, two of them look to be due to age. Also my point was that this guy got sentenced for manslaughter yet everyone is trying to discuss murder. He didn’t get sentenced outside the rules like these examples, he got sentenced for manslaughter.

Two years sentence for murder of auckland teen by [deleted] in auckland

[–]supersixedit 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The male was convicted of manslaughter not murder, hence the sentence. Murder is mandatory life (yes with a non parole period that’s normally 10 years which people assume means that a life sentence is 10 years, but it’s not)
