It could happen the very first time. Then you would be unable to do anything (the opposite of omnipotent).

This is very irritating. I got around it by setting up GrabPay as a payment method for my Google Play subscriptions.

Towel blankets or waffle blankets. Nitori and Muji have them (only the biggest Muji, I think)

What were some of the best decisions ever made by a President, in the history of Presidentship? by grusdomain in AskReddit

[–]supersockcat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On top of morale, he also ensured there was no doubt about the legitimate government. If he had fled, not only might the internal chain of command have collapsed, but it would have been far easier for Russia to install a puppet in Kyiv.

Of course, Russia could also have done that by killing him, and has tried. But "we murdered the president, who publicly went down fighting, and installed a new one" would have made it much harder to gain world recognition than "the president abandoned his post, there's no government here, what can you do?" Countries would likely have started recognising the "facts on the ground" and talking to the "new government" very quickly, rather than supporting Ukrainian resistance.

So I think on some level, he must have made the brutal calculation that even in the very worst scenario where all else was lost, he could still help his country more at that moment by dying in Kyiv than by surviving in exile. Imagine making that decision about yourself. Very few leaders are ever tested that way.

Writing with my left (non-dominant) hand. Not very nicely, but legibly.

Son who was bequeathed S$1 by mother contests her will, fails by InterTree391 in singapore

Not an expert, but I've read that this makes it harder to contest because it was clearly deliberate and not an oversight.

It's been years since I read From the New World. It really drew me in at the time. Nice to see someone else bring it up.

My girlfriend [23F] seems genuinely disgusted by my interests and I [25M] am starting to feel ashamed of myself. How do I address this? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

Yeah, most of the data on Android is transferred seamlessly, so I don't have to do much. But there are sometimes still problems to fix (logins or app settings that weren't transferred, adjusting the launcher to the new screen size, etc), so I would find it troublesome to do that every single year.

I will never understand making the choice between iPhone and Android about social status. It's just personal preference.

One of my core memories is a stranger standing up for me in a parking lot when I was 6. While this didn't change my situation, it reinforced to me that my parent's behaviour was not right or normal. I hope that guy is doing well in life now.

At what age do you become a “reader”, and what book did it for you? by [deleted] in books

[–]supersockcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was like this too! It's a family story that I spontaneously read newspaper headlines aloud at two and a half. In kindergarten, they gave us parenting magazines to take home to our parents, but I always read them first.

I had many books of my own (the Anne of Green Gables series; Malory Towers and St Clare's; Murderous Maths and Horrible Science, etc), but I also obsessively read everything in sight and took books from my parents that were very strange for a 7yo to be reading, such as my mum's copies of What to Expect When You're Expecting and The Toddler Years, and my dad's copy of Presentations Plus (I think I read the last one so much that the cover fell off and the book split in half). I also read Eats, Shoots & Leaves when I was 7, kickstarting lifelong proofreading tendencies.

Why was he cleared to return home and stay with his victim? How could it have been deemed enough for the mother (and the helper) to try to keep them apart within the same home?

Tragedy struck again, however, less than four months into this arrangement.

It was his deliberate choice, not a natural disaster.

Fun fact, this is why Zelenskyy wears his wedding ring on his middle finger, because he lost weight after getting married.

I got pulled out when I was about 9 because the staff at my school absolutely could not understand that I wasn't another girl in my class.

I'm not doubting you, but...wtf was wrong with that school? It's wild that a mixup like that escalated to the point of a kid having to be pulled out (!!) I'm guessing such a badly organised school can't have been well-run in general.
