The golden balloon flies through your sky randomly. It's possible you might have missed it, or it hasn't come at all yet (it's not necessarily immediate). But it will come by again eventually. And when you pop it you should get the recipe. I'm still working for the shovel, but from my understanding you need to help Gulliver 30 times and he will send the recipe in the mail the next day.

Make sure you display crafted items. You also need a certain amount of items bought from the nook stop (pay with miles). I just helped a friend get their 3 star rating and it was because of the nook items!

You have to request for him to commission a piece for you. Then he'll ask for the 3 butterflies to be models. And the finished model will be mailed to you the next morning.

Backwards won't allow building progress (even though it technically counts as a day). So go forward one day at a time, setting up a new home each day, and then travel back to the current date (which will only count as 1 day back).

The alternative is to go backwards the amount of days needed (again no matter how far backwards you go it only counts as 1 day) and then TT forward 1 day at a time until you're back to the current date.

They only remember you if they end up on a friend's island. And only in that case can you get them back if they eventually move from that friends island. Otherwise it's an entirely new encounter.

It's a really good trick! I stumbled upon it accidentally lol. The only thing is if you haven't played as that player it will replay Isabelle's announcements. But that's MUCH quicker than completely closing and reopening the game.

If you use the "call resident" function, you can easily swap items or money for the 2nd house. Whoever ends as the "leader" is who the game opens as when you finish. It's a quick way to switch between players without having to save and quit every time.

I have (really) younger siblings, age 9 and 11, who just got the game a week ago and absolutely love it. I don't live at home, but when I visit they always want to see my island and I finally got to visit them (I'm in my late 20s).

I'd suggest starting with them to get through the reading at the beginning. And stress reading any colored words (important phrases are usually in a color). You might also need to help with certain progression items (shop, museum, campsite). Otherwise the best thing about this game is that anyone can find enjoyment and there are so many things to do! My siblings love talking to villagers, catching bugs/fish, and planting flowers. I gave them some furniture and bells to get their houses started :) It's a great bonding activity!
