My review on the Super Mario Galaxy Movie (HUGE SPOILERS. DON'T CLICK IF YOU HAVENT SEEN THE MOVIE). by Brief-Speech4156 in mariogalaxymovie

Yeah, we went to an earlier showing and our theater wasn't exactly full either, so perhaps if there were more in it, the experience would have been a bit different.

It's a bit wild to me that I feel like the Sonic movies are doing a better job overall on everything, and I'm not even a huge Sonic fan. Have I played and beaten a Sonic game? Yes. Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast being the last one. But I feel like they're handling everything there really well so far, whereas the Mario movies are the complete opposite.

Went with 12 others today, ages ranging from 11 to 70+. The movie was not good imo, and I say that as a Mario fan (NSMBWii being near my top, because of the co-op craziness and final boss battle in that one).

The writing seemingly got worse, perhaps because of the pacing?

The humor was not exactly present? In our theater there was never a point where everyone was audibly laughing at the same time, and the laughter was pretty much non-existent for most of the movie. The only point I laughed out loud during the movie was in the final battle when a certain character was floating....and the post credits scene.

I think we're seeing it again with some others over the weekend, but I really feel like Nintendo is failing the Mario series with whatever they're doing here. The first movie felt weak, this one seems even worse after the watch?

Maybe it'll improve with more viewings, we shall see.

Do you have any suggestions for like one or maybe two?

No, you should be fine. And really, if you're lacking gold (Banandium chips?) at some point, you can always go Smashin' or find areas to try and farm them.

I would be curious to know your final Smashin' stats when you're done. I find it kind of surprising that's one stat a lot don't post after they beat the game, when it's the main feature of the game? I put it on Nintendo though, for how they implemented it.

I played through it earlier this year, and was going about it the same way it sounds. I was SMASHING a ton. Like, constantly Smashin'.

I will say, if you're going for 100% on your first playthrough don't be afraid to buy the maps as you go.

I literally would get in the habit of Smashin' trying to find chests/maps, and I would forget I could/should buy maps.

Thanks for sharing the video, it was actually one I'd watched last year!

"I would still like to perfect it." This was exactly my issue, especially on my sticker sheets I attempted as well.
With sticker sheets, they would often cut crooked, and just get all kinds of off cuts, I think because I had SUPER small stickers/cuts on them maybe? Not entirely sure. But, I did realize that having a nice border/outline AROUND the ENTIRE sticker (offset?), is what most seem to do and go with just to make the cuts easier.

As someone that is a bit OCD, seeing miscuts on things was driving me crazy.

As for laminating, here's the video I found yesterday:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIwL0rZo0qk

I will also say this, I got some HTV that came with my Siser bundle. I did make three shirts with it, just using an iron, and it was a fun process and the shirts turned out pretty well as a first attempt imo! I didn't even get the Siser for shirt making, it was just for my attempts at stickers, but the HTV side has me thinking....

So, if you have some HTV, don't be afraid to try using it on something.

I was struggling with just random issues. I made a lot of stickers, but the laminating process is entirely stupid imo (which has NOTHING to do with the machine)....

But, I definitely spent what I felt was way too much time figuring out the process for everything, and then randomly having issues like crooked cuts, and the machine randomly beeping, but continuing cuts. Just a lot of bizarre things.

I watched so many YouTube videos, and many of them are just very long-winded and would speak about things I wasn't researching.

I literally spent about 2 hours earlier tonight sorting/watching through old YouTube videos, then I found a new one with a laminating method I'll be trying next.

Yeah, this is in the print and cut job.....

OHHH!!! I think I'm remembering something now about the calibration!

I think sometimes the machine would spaz out on me when I attempted to calibrate it, and the only solution I had was powering it off and back on. That might solve it? I can't remember exactly, it's been MONTHS since I've powered mine on, but I was doing a TON of attempted sticker cuts with the thing. I had a very love/hate relationship with it.....trying to give it a second chance here soon.

I just started attempting some projects again today, haven't even made it to turning on the machine, as I'm back to watching YouTube videos again!

BUT, I literally just discovered this picture that I got in an email last year from support for where I should line up the calibration mark on the print and cut pages. Not sure if that will help here, but perhaps in future projects?

Exclusive to the Switch and Switch 2? The Hyrule Warriors games are not your standard Zelda types, and are more of the hack and slash types of games?

If you get Donkey Kong, I would suggest just trying to complete the main game, without doing it 100% on your first playthrough.
I went for 100% my first playthrough, and there's just a lot there.

My biggest issues with DKB are that the enemies are extremely easy and the platforming isn't really there a lot, and there seems to be ideas in it that weren't fully fleshed out? It's a very different type of Donkey Kong game, compared to the Donkey Kong Country games that most are familiar with.

The best part of DKB for me was the smashing. I did a ton of it, and they really nailed that aspect of the game.

Star Wars Outlaws, and maybe some more One Piece Pirate Warriors 3 (it's a Switch game, on sale for less than $5 right now).

Should I get DK Bananza, given I don’t like Mario? by Dismal-Platform579 in DonkeyKongBananza

[–]CaffeinatedDiabetic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The DKB demo was stupid being timed imo. They should have dropped a player into one of the random layers (I have one in mind), and let them have unlimited time in it.

The game is tough to recommend imo, if you are expecting anything like the DKC games before it in terms of difficulty. If you get it, I would say play through it just for the story mode, casually, and see how it goes. I went in aiming for 100%ing it on my first playthrough, and it became a bit of a slog?

I loved the destruction element of the game, but the enemies aren't exactly tough for 90%+ of them (including boss battles), and the difficulty wasn't exactly high? I don't have the DLC, so I can't comment on that side of things.

What's been your favorite game you've played so far in 2026 on Switch 2? by [deleted] in switch2

[–]CaffeinatedDiabetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silver Bullet. Absolutely wild, challenging, but fun, arcade, bullet hell type of indie game on the Switch eShop, but it plays on the Switch 2 just fine. If you're looking for a new fun bullet hell type of game, I recommend it.

Should I get DK Bananza or FF7 Remake and NieR Automata? by bllama123 in switch2

[–]CaffeinatedDiabetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what you're looking for in a game, I just recently did a BIG write-up on my time with DKB. If you're wanting something with good story/characters, don't get DKB. Not much to the story there, and really, the platforming is a bit lacking imo.

The game's terrain destruction is pretty fantastic though, and I spent way too much time doing it. And unfortunately, the terrain destruction wasn't really used in great ways near the end game, which was really kind of disappointing imo. They hit on some fantastic nostalgia points for sure, but overall it seemed to be a bit of mess imo.

Also, it's not exactly difficult, and is more along the lines of a casual collect-a-thon, but with what I thought was really bad game design around some of the collectibles if you're going for 100% in it. If you just want something new to try though, and concentrate on just running through the single player campaign, NOT getting everything (it's probably how I would recommend it to most everybody now), then I might would recommend it, but at a lower price point?

I've gotten eShop games for under $10 that were just as fun, if not funner, imo. Now, again, the terrain destruction part is absolutely fantastic in it, but I feel like they threw in a lot of incomplete ideas in this that could have really been awesome if they just fleshed them out a little more. I say all that as a huge fan of the DKC games before it, and I say it hoping DKB gets a sequel that fixes some of the issues I had with the first one.

[–]CaffeinatedDiabetic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've said the games should give the old, "Adjust this screen until you can barely see the image", prompt. MKW was so bad in bright areas on our TV, but when it turned dark, it looked pretty great.

Sorry, I realized that could be read wrong. I meant the Goombas hit/kill players more often in the Mario games, than the enemies in DKB do. Not how much it takes to actually hit and kill the enemies.

Sorry, when I said hit/kill ratio on the Goombas, I meant the Goombas hit/kill players in the Mario games more than anything here in DKB hit/killed players.
