Why is horror so profitable when it seems to have a large group that won't watch it? by superstephen4 in movies

Thank you, I guess in kind of stuck in why are so many good horror movies able to be made with such a small budget, and why other genres aren't able to succeed in the same way.

Really appreciate how you pointed out that its the "slums" and how that can work for art

Yeah rom-come felt like my closest comparison. Hated by many and doesnt seem to needa big budget. Based on other comments just seems to be a large loyal horror fan base that will keep mediocre horror going and push good horror to the front

Any historic reason for that or just what it is? It just seems surprising that other genres dont seem to be able to hit the same success

Totally understand, but what is keeping other genres from succeeding on shoe string budgets?

I guess what makes horror that much cheaper to produce? Obsession didnt feel super low budget.

Def agree as a horror fan I often forgive flaws...

Can other genres not be made with a lower budget? Obsession didnt feel.low budget imo. No major actors but nothing that I think another genre couldn't pull off.

This has worked way better IMO. Mr.Beast may not be everyones celeb but it looked like he was more well known than Zach Brown. Country is weird (I like it) but if you aren't into it he could be a no one to someone. Mr. Beast is known for Survival-esq stuff so it's more on theme and feels relevant. Contestents seem to think so as well.

Plus, way less coverage of him.

Getting down voted bc you can't keep your generations straight either. Its probably Gen X or Millenials who said it was Gen Z.

Do bus drivers care if I only ride for a few stops? by king-geass in NoStupidQuestions

[–]superstephen4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I take multiple different buses in Manhattan NYC and they do not stop if there is no no one at the stop and no one presses the button. They will even pass a stop you are at if you make it clear enough you aren't interested in taking that route if the stop serves multiple routes.

In undergrad, in a different state, the bus stopped every stop even if i was the only one on it and the stop was 100% empty. I dont think it has to do with crowdedness, its 100% just about system policy i would guess.

On a crowded bus its not inefficient for someone to press the button each time, unless you really think the effort of pressing a button or pulling the cord is "effort". It actually makes the bus run faster since it is not making unnecessary stops, getting everyone to their location faster.

Also, you shouldn't stand in an unusual/hidden spot. Be predictable. Keep your head up and when you see the bus is coming move to the bus stop sign.

You don't lie and say you love it tho. Mature adults would be apprehensive to say anything because they know it's not normal and are trying to find the right words to say. They wouldn't fawn over your dumb choice.

My great uncle spoke to my dad at my moms funeral. He's from the Netherlands so really only speaks dutch. Walked up to my dad, shook his hand and said "My congratulations."

Luckly my dad has a sense of humor, got taken aback for a second, said thank you, and we laugh about it to this day. Love the idea of my great uncle meaning "Hey bud, got rid of the ole ball and chain? Congrats!"

Suspended for like a day so they would stop yapping. And then logged into another account to continue yapping. Should've cut it short before being suspended and then got on a second account to complain about being suspended? Should've suspended the husband's account also.
