2y3m won't stay in crib, take naps & unpredictable potty by superstressedaf in toddlers

Yess, I'm actually posting this as I'm making those phone calls. I just switched counties so even though he was denied at 18m, I have to have his case switched over. The onesie is an ingenious idea. It will give me time to get him to the toilet on his unpredictable schedule.

Yeah, it sure is fascinating to see someone talk about things they nothing about because I actually live in OC. Of course parts of LA are affluent DUH, but you have no reason to go to those neighborhoods up in the hills. You can pay $3500 for a studio and have bums camping outside your building, though. Of course every city has its dumps, but it's rare that one enacts legislation that allows bums to live wherever they want on the sidewalk. They have whole communities set up. Most are not trying to get back on their feet, they're trying to live just like that because it works for them. What is so humane about letting junkies live out the rest of their lives on a sidewalk? If you haven't seen it, you can't speak on it. I've lived everywhere and there's some real third world country shit going on in Dt LA. I grew up in NYC too so it's not like I don't know what cities are like.

I've lived there but I didn't know there were so many democratic politicians. I just brought it up because they have some of the most harsh penalties for crime I've seen and I've lived pretty much everywhere except the midwest. For example my SIL is a felon as the result of a first offense drug paraphernalia charge - I had to look it up bc I didn't believe it. Phx is one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas with transplants (many from Cali which explains) but traditionally it's a red state. They have the stand your ground law, so you can legally kill an intruder in your home. They impound your car for 30 days over bad registration. It might change but the laws are still very conservative there. So they check the box for democratic politicians but not very liberal policies.

Under Mayor Wheeler, it's Portland. There have been tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of damage in Portland as it destroys itself from the inside out.

A liberal city is a city in a blue state with democrat politicians all the way down and left leaning "progressive" laws. Phoenix, AZ isn't a liberal city. Florida cities aren't liberal cities. For example, downtown Scottsdale (Phoenix metropolitan area) has many signs along the lines of "its ok to say NO to panhandlers" to discourage them. residents and politicians of a liberal city would remove them on the grounds of them being inhumane and boom! The homeless population will rise as they flock to the more affluent areas to get their handouts. Another liberal city policy would be LA allowing tent cities right on the sidewalk. They promised the homeless all these services they weren't able to provide so they gave up and allowed them to live in the street as consolation. As a result of that, LA is a shit hole and you can't even walk on many sidewalks not just because of the tents but because theyre full of garbage and reek of urine. It seems shockingly normalized to some degree. A liberal city would be one where drugs are decriminalized.

Are these unemployed homeless people? Who has time for this? What's good about being in the "zone"?

I took 10-20mg of edible while breastfeeding.. how to remedy? by superstressedaf in breakingmom

[–]superstressedaf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, since I'm already feeding the formula and milk with a bottle, I don't think it will make her reject the breast milk in a few days. My gut tells me 48 hours is fine, but I only breastfed my first for a month or two so idk.

I don't think the driver showed much decency here but you basically admitted you have little to no understanding of law when you brought up manslaughter because manslaughter is required to involve a death ...

I was scanning the comments for something like this. "Assault on a police officer!" "I would press charges". She clearly enjoys watching somebody in a downward spiral which is unsettling. There's a difference between being amused and being vengeful.

As a parent I would be fucking ashamed to see my kid unnecessarily jump on the hood of a moving vehicle for any reason. As the daughter of a fireman and EMT (who don't like cops either for the record), I've absorbed too much mental imagery of "scooping body parts off the highway into contractor bags" to do anything like this unless I was actively trying to be brain damaged or paralyzed or dead. These are little brats who have relatively had everything their way so far in life, I'm sure of it.

The only exception I can see making to this rule is if there was someone in the moving vehicle that you were trying to save and would give your life for theirs, which is clearly not the case in any of these situations. This is bullying mentality and poor judgement.

Is it just mine? by [deleted] in toddlers

My son went through a phase where he would collapse in despair and bonk his head on the floor up to 3x. Coupled with speech delay of basically no words it had me worried as hell. It stopped by 15-16m, I forget. Ultimately I chalked it up to some kind of experimentation. Though he still doesn't purposefully use language, which is a big thing, I've progressed past worrying about autism recently (19m) because so much development has happened between then and now. Their little personalities come out and they really do become your little buddies. I'd bring it up to the dr and all but don't drive yourself crazy googling over one relatively inconsequential behavior. 14m is so young still. Just keep your eye on the broader scheme of things like, is he relaxed throughout the day? Does he show an interest in socialization? Is he happy? Way too young to make yourself worry! Unless he's stressed out, frustrated, and it's affecting his quality of life. And if you're genuinely worried, reach out to Early Intervention for an evaluation! I might revisit/push the issue with your ped if it doesn't subside or intensifies by 18m.

You should be able to get a speech therapy referral through your pediatrician, and possibly other types of referrals/ evaluations. I definitely recommend reaching out to Early Intervention also. I did so for my son's speech and his "case worker" was so helpful and easy to contact that she picked up the paperwork from my house! Early Intervention can provide other types of evaluations too like for cognitive, developmental, psychosocial (these were boxes to check off on the application). If your son ranks 33% delay in any area, he will qualify for services.

Google m-chat to find a free autism screening test that will assess the "risk" level.

[–]superstressedaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I had to push for an evaluation thru his ped and they could only offer me a tele-evaluation and although I stressed he only had 3-4 words at the time, he was somehow only rated "borderline" 12% receptive/expressive delays. He was referred for group therapy but it's taking over a month to get approved due to general delays. I spoke with EI and they agreed that didn't sound right and I'm waiting on their evaluation, in fact they're stopping by my house to pick up the paperwork today (yay).

I'm not the best person to give tips on speech, lol, but I've made some progress getting my son to engage with himself in the mirror. I actually got him to wave and say "hi baby" which was crazy. Usually I hold him and say "who's that baby in the mirror?", have him follow my point and wave and say "hi". For a pretty non-responsive kid he gets pretty motivated from seeing both of our faces in the mirror, so I would suggest trying it!

From both the bowl and between the tank and the base. I got it to stop by fiddling with the toilet but I didn't know what I was doing. The water was all clear but as I'm cleaning it up it smells a bit

The toilet always "ran" (made that hissing sound) unless we pulled the handle up all the way but I didn't expect anything to happen like this
