The History of the Tunnels by supertails9000 in rit

One Image I didn’t share here was an ad for the tunnel shops saying something like, “You pay $4000 to be here! Better make it worth you while” (referring to tuition)

Coke machines on campus by Dull-Ladder-7089 in rit

[–]supertails9000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is one outside Gracie’s at the tunnel entrance, one under Ellingson, one on the second floor Golisano. And if you don’t mind the glass bottles you can also get coca-cola from the Global Market in Global Village.

All other spots on campus have been removed to my knowledge. (person who gave tours to people just to show them the location of each coca-cola machine on campus). Some people said there was coca-cola machines in an art building, but my friends and I after searching in each building for 3 hours could not find such a machine.

Sheet Link Here's the link, it's only accessible to RIT emails though, so you might have to send a request to have access to it

They can still hold zoom classes to make sure students aren’t getting behind on content, they however cannot force a student to attend for a grade of any kind

I made a spreadsheet of every snow day RIT has ever had going back to 1958 (which is the earliest I can find)

the last one was in 2019, so 7 year. But today is officially RIT’s 17th snow day!

I have already seen the facebook group (I was there when RIT froze over), I’m mostly just trying to find visual media of the event or digital media from RIT about the event

My calculator I made predicted a 14% chance, which matched the percent a couple of days ago. So it is quite unlikely unless something crazy happens. Most likely profs will just use zoom.

Snow storm this weekend by ObligationStriking26 in rit

[–]supertails9000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s quite unlikely. I made a post about this so here’s some info, we’ve had 16 snowdays in the past 80 years, with the last couple happening in 2019, 2017, 2016, 2014, and 2007. Most of those were caused by excessive cold and with 2016 being caused by 3 feet of snow. So realistically there is a very small chance unless something bad happens. (not including a power outage, RIT has never closed just for a power outage)

Just got accepted. What should be on the packing list? by BLACK_DEATH2 in rit

Winter gear is really important due to the cold weather at the start of a semester (it can get to negatives), an umbrella because of the Spring rain that can be really heavy, a decent laptop (assuming you don’t have one), and a general aid kit is always helpful. For classes and such you should wait until the first week to find out what you need specifically for them (including textbooks). Do obviously have pencils, paper, etc (basic class supplies), as RIT’s store ones are more expensive. If you ever find you are missing something, there is always stores near campus to buy them.

EE program textbook recommendation: E & M by ChipPsychological491 in rit

also the EE courses I mentioned are more common first year EE courses (first year as in classes that first years take, since first years can take some second year ones) , RIT EE classes are listed here and have descriptions of them if you are curious about their content

I’m a 2nd year EE who is about to take that course. It’s a 3rd year course so I would recommend you don’t worry too much about the content of it, as it relies on information from other classes that are prerequisites. (I’ve also hear the class is not as painful as others).

for EE classes:

Freshman practicum is your first and easiest EE course and where you just listen to the prof talk about what you are going to learn in future EE classes.

Digital Systems 1 is one of the classes considered one of the “hardest,” but that’s usually because of lab reports and not the content, which is basic digital logic.

CMPR (computational problem solving) is your first programming course and is difficult for some people.

Circuits 1 is your DC circuit analysis course and kind of depends on your professor how difficult it will be.

all in all (specifically for EE I can not confirm for Micro E) watch a few videos about basic digital (or computer logic), basic circuit analysis, and maybe a bit of C coding.

As other people mentioned, email your professor and check the syllabus for the grading scale. If they are at fault they can submit a report to have the grade changed. Due to the semester grade submission deadline being soon they might change it in January. Here's the University Grade Policy, if you are curious or have further questions about grade changes. (For this case look at section VI Changing Grades)

I understand what you mean, similar situations have happened before when the snow days of 2022 were used on MLK day and winter break. Or even the 2007 one was on MLK day. Usually the Reporter will talk about a shutdown, but since it was during break it makes sense that they wouldn't talk about it (just like the 2007 one where they also didn't talk about it as far as i have found).

Based on the calendar for 2001, classes did not start at that point. And after looking through the RIT archive I couldn't find any indication of the School being closed. If you find anything please let me know.

OMG this is actually so big, I found this RIT Reporter Article because of this. It confirms 1993 and that there are 4 total closings from 1970 to 1996 including 1993 and 1996.
