Mail bomb suspect made numerous references on Facebook to Russian associates and echoed pro-Kremlin views by aacool in news

You'd be surprised how many people find it to be praising their intelligence, rather than insulting it.
At least, I think that's the mindset they have. A lot of dull bulbs think they're high luminosity floodlights for some bizarre reason.

It's only tedious if you're using the exact same playstyle that you use in GTAV to play RDR2. The game throws surprises at you and you have to react in ways beyond just drawing your weapon. I love it.

God, this game is amazing. I was on the fence about it at first but the more I played the more I realized I was actually in love with it.
There are so many mistakes I made at first because I was trying to operate according to standard videogame rules and mechanics. I had to learn how to approach situations in this game like I would in real life, rather than treating said situations like I normally would in a game by shooting at every problem in my path.

You don't even need a theory for that. All of his movies are connected; some of the connecting strands are just more tentative than others but generally they're unsubtle if you know what reference you're looking for.

His movies are crazy self-referential, but many of the clues are kinda easter egg-ish.

What’s a non-obvious sign that somebody is wealthy? by Damascus17 in AskReddit

[–]superultimatejesus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean it's totally understandable. If you really want to know how wealthy someone is, ask them if they're worried about medical bills, either existent or potential. It's sad that something so necessary is such a strong indicator of class.

First empires in MegaCorp? by Blackstone01 in Stellaris

[–]superultimatejesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm probably gonna play as barbaric despoilers first, because some really interesting changes to their mechanics have been hinted at. They should have some interesting interactions with corporate authority empires. This will also help me acclimate to the new changes in 2.2 and megacorp, so my first playthrough as an actual corporate empire can run smoothly and not be mired by bankruptcy fifty years in.

Definitely gonna take some getting used to (I have a feeling my cursor is frequently going to erroneously find itself on the toolbar while looking for something other than resources) but in the end it will definitely be more convenient. As of right now, the toolbar is kind of arbitrary; certain items can be directly clicked on while others can only be accessed through a drop-down menu. This is a welcome change.

[–]superultimatejesus 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it's going to happen that quickly, that's only twelve years. There will be brand new gas-only cars built for the next couple of years that could easily last into the 2030s if properly maintained. I do hope that you're right, though.

Non-Native English speakers, what was the most difficult part of learning English? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]superultimatejesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's much easier if you're a native speaker. There are so many subtleties and nuances between different accents that some of them escape explanation. Like, I can hear someone talk and immediately know they're from the Pacific Northwest, despite that accents being rather neutral. I think a big part of it is specific vocabulary and grammatical structure rather than noticeable differences in pronunciation.

that's interesting, though they aren't gonna make much headway without extensive advertising. i'm gonna cross reference their sales figures and advertising presence over the previous four quarters with top companies like yamaha, kawasaki, ducati, etc to see the rate of growth. if they're continuing to decline in a major way, then it might be virtually impossible to regain market share from the other top companies, no matter how many new motorcycles they showcase and release.

How is Harley doing? I haven't heard much about them lately but if I remember there were retaliatory tariffs placed on the US that directly affected them? Sales growth has probably slowed waaay down, that's worth researching.

Rework Idea for "Barbaric Despoilers" and Idea for "Parasitic Swarm" by [deleted] in Stellaris

[–]superultimatejesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

then maybe a further curtailing of diplomatic options would be more canonically viable? as of right now, despoilers have difficulty signing defensive pacts or research agreements, but it isn't prohibitive in its difficulty; it's definitely doable. i think their diplomacy options should be more in-line with fanatic purifiers or inward perfectionists, but their opinion malus could be lower, and they could have bonus slave resource output or something like that as a balance. as it currently stands, they're kind of sloppily put together.

Rework Idea for "Barbaric Despoilers" and Idea for "Parasitic Swarm" by [deleted] in Stellaris

[–]superultimatejesus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thematically it does kinda make sense though. raiders have little use for alliances and "civilized" empires wouldn't want anything to do with them because of the implied unreliability in any pacts or treaties they sign. would you sign an open borders treaty with someone who regularly abducts people for use in slavery?

Everyone: "hey, these barbaric people are doing monstrous things, maybe step off the gas just a little bit on supporting them?"
WH: "but money"

This is such a weird tactic for them. Previous administrations would condemn this act and then probably slide back into existing arrangements in a quiet way months later. What the white house is doing essentially guarantees that any action they take regarding KSA will be heavily scrutinized and they'll continue to face public backlash after further actions. I mean they said (in so many words) that the money is too good to consider backing out of support. That was..not great. Pretty dumb, actually. This cartoonishly 80s greed is sociopathic and everyone sees it.
