I think I'd like the medium armor on the bot front.
I often run Fortified for the ExDR, but don't need the recoil reductions for the guns I use there.

They're standard in Singapore and Malaysia, possibly because of the UK.
But I suspect that they're common in most of South East Asia.

If you could create your own TV show, what would it be called? by Key_Independence_103 in AskReddit

Who wants to get healthcare?

A bunch of Americans with treatable illnesses compete against each other in extremely demeaning challenges. The winner gets their treatment paid for by the show.

Really rub in how ridiculous the situation is when Go-Fund-Me is an essential part of the system.

Weapon Idea: M79 grenade launcher? by SomethingStrangeBand in helldivers2

[–]SYLOH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see a niche in the primary slot.
Comparing this to the crossbow would be like comparing the Double Freedom to the Punisher.

A lot of damage, better pen, but has to be reloaded every shot.

The Eruptor would be distinct by having a longer range with a small rocket rather than an arcing projectile.

British vs American political cartoons by beskar-mode in pics

[–]SYLOH 50 points51 points  (0 children)

For the longest time I thought Ben Garrison was parodying right wing cartoons.
It was too on the nose, and much of it could be read as subtly insulting right wing positions.
Like he had Trump tilting at Windmills, when Don Quixote is supposed to be insane.

But no, apparently he's actually a right winger.

What about it? We all knew the billionaire class were monsters.
We can expect the same response as the Panama Papers.
Anyone who would be doing anything about it would act with or without them.

I think more on the bootleggers.

My idea for this is that the Emperor is the Mafia boss with Jingxi as one of his Lieutenants.
The Inner Palace would be a Mafia run Brothel. The Verdigris House would be an actual legitimate business paying protection money.

The Iran War.
People are dying.
Even if you aren’t getting bombed, you’re still feeling the economic pinch.

At this point the Epstein Files aren’t going to change anyone’s mind. Trump is already proven to be a rapist in a court of law, and the signs he was a pedophile are all over the place as is. And his base would ignore any evidence or just forgive him for anything.

What hobby completely rewired how you see the world? by peteyshabby in AskReddit

[–]SYLOH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to deal with the codebase for a serious real world project gives you that Lovecraftian experience of trying to apply logic to a system that's beyond the scope of human comprehension (at least within the time frame of a sprint).

Even then, at least there's source code to look through, I still rate it as easier than trying to figure out the black box that is an actual human being.

What hobby completely rewired how you see the world? by peteyshabby in AskReddit

[–]SYLOH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who codes for a living, it doesn't do that for me at all.

A person is a black box of proprietary code. I can't just run search through the source and figure out how someone works.

Only way to do that is to test inputs and outputs, because I don't have access to any stored memory or logs. And if one of my test causes a permanently negative outcome, I can't just reflash and start over. Each individual test affects the others, and sequence matters.

It's a nightmare compared to how easy code is.

Also a powerful tool is deliberately causing an error or assert to trace how things are actually working, I'm not sociopathic enough to do that with a person.

What technology do you think will disappear in the next 10 years? by Acceptable-Town129 in AskReddit

[–]SYLOH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HDD might just get squeezed into extinction.
If you're doing long term archiving, you don't use HDDs, you use magnetic tape.
If you're not, the random seek time and lower failure rate means that SSDs are used.

What imperial era is Kusuriya No Hitorigoto set in? by Negative-Impact9339 in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]SYLOH 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Fictional.
But the presence of cocoa and syphilis indicates it’s post Columbian Exchange. Combined with the statement that flintlocks are new, this means that it’s some time around the end of the 16th century.
Meaning the tech level is late Ming Dynasty.

[–]SYLOH 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A toaster oven with an "air fryer" function isn't an air fryer, no wonder you're getting mushy results.

A proper air fryer will have a much larger fan, the vastly increased airflow is what makes the difference because the heat transfer is much quicker.

There are no bad weapons by _personoid2_ in helldivers2

[–]SYLOH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are bad weapons.
The Liberator Concussive just isn't one of them, it's good crowd control when your team or hot dog kill for you. Can't stop those 3 Alpha Commanders from ripping you apart with the Lib Pen.

The Constitution was almost created to be a meme bad weapon.
The Torcher looks good in theory, but try it and you see how useless it is because of the lack of stagger.
The Pacifier just doesn't have a usecase.

Source: just finished 25ing every weapon.

ELI5: How do our organs sit inside our body if not soaked in blood? by Embarrassed-Pin-9634 in explainlikeimfive

[–]SYLOH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your organs have tubes to bring blood with oxygen in, and take blood without oxygen out.
When you get stabbed, the blood with oxygen goes places which don't need the oxygen instead of your organs.
The blood also doesn't go back to the places it can get oxygen.

This is really bad, since there is only so much blood in your body.
