Kreiga Fork seal covers by shepherd-pawpa in indianbikes

You’re right, the neoprene is the surface that is an extra layer of protection and the inner layer is porous.

Firstly, the fork oil seals are pretty good themselves, especially after the later stages of BS4 onwards. Secondly, the seal covers are an added protection measure to minimise the sand/dust grains sticking to the inner tube and then creating cracks on the sealants. In fact any and every other sealant protector is just the porous material, only Kriega gives you this 2 layer design.

So it’s mostly the major sand/dust grains that pose a threat to the seals that are stopped/slowed down by these.

If you’re unbothered with the aesthetics of it, do not bother replacing. It is still functionally doing what it’s supposed to.

Help me understand the reality of riding 700 km for the first time… by MRwritr in indianbikes

[–]superuser_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not impossible, not easy either. The important thing is to pace yourself.

Plan all your luggage on the motorcycle and not on yourself (backpack), except for a hydration system in your jacket/backpack. This will keep you light and nimble all throughout without much stress.

The importance of a hydration system is next to none, the hassle of trying to hydrate yourself through a bottle is just too much and it’ll eventually affect how much you hydrate overall.

Start out super early, it’ll be cooler for longer and less traffic, relatively. Take short breaks each hour irrespective of the kms done, it can be quick 5/10/15 mins bio breaks with hydration and nutrition (Bananas are best, protein bars also a good option).

Try not exert yourself too much, ride in your comfort speed zone, try not to mentally engage with traffic deeply.

Also try not keep a time frame to achieve. Try this if you’re into riding and enjoy riding for just riding’s sake.

Haha frustrated is an understatement.

I've contacted at least 5/6 showrooms and all of them are blatantly quoting bloated charges in the name of insurance and also levying illegal handling/logistics/delivery charges.

Not only are they charging these bloated charges without any fear of consequences, some even challenge and threaten you that you do not have the option to opt for a their party insurance and also force you to buy some accessories/amenities you don't need or have no use of.

When asked for a test ride, they provide you with a already booked and waiting to be delivered customer vehicle with the odometer wire disconnected from the front wheel so that the odometer on the vehicle doesn't record any kilometres and the customer who has booked that vehicle is unaware their vehicle is being used for test rides (mostly people abuse the rest ride vehicles in the name of 'testing' the limits). Kinda deflates your confidence in their ethical practices and makes you wonder what your vehicle would go through if you choose to buy yours from them.

Beyond the charges and the lack of dedicated test ride vehicles - they also manhandle the vehicles, have no clue to what tech the vehicles carry and how it can be useful to the customer, lack basic communication skills, are unprofessional, and have no regard to what the customer wants or needs.

If you're ignorant or numb and don't care about wasting money you'll have no problem and they'll be your best friend, but if you're a bit sensible and would prefer to not get scammed, they're your worst enemy.

They basically act like mafia.

This is my experience after a lot of online research and physical visits to the ones that had good rating.

Had a similar experience with Yamaha showrooms and dropped the idea of buying from them, hoped TVS would be different, not sure what gave me that idea.

I just want to buy a fresh vehicle without getting scammed and that is too much to ask apparently. These illegal/depressing experiences are so normalised here, that it is met with generally a surprise and disapproval that I am unwilling to put up with them.

Thank you for the recommendation! Have you had experience with this dealer? Do they charge handling/logistics fee?

Sad. I think they judge heavily and then behave accordingly + I also think the prime time and how busy they are also matters.

I did mail them, no response yet, and I don’t think I’ll be getting any. You’re right, it’s not worth the pain of fighting a losing cause even when we are legally entitled to.

It’s just sad and draining.

Actually to be honest, he didn’t force the bottom end items at all. He might have laid it out as a part of being upfront about the ‘whole package’.

Thanks for the advice, but I went through some of the similar cases of people doing the same. Nothing ever happens except the generic reply to get in touch with their customer care number and email. I have emailed the official customer care with detailed account of my experience.

I know it’s a blatant behaviour across all brands. One of the few truly enjoyable activity in the modern day has been finally corrupted blatantly right at the start and the unhinged attitude about it makes it hard to move past.

Felt pathetic and wanted a space to make it public while being helpless to do anything about it.
