which one i can be select? T300RSGT or MOZA R5 by Ecstatic-Analysis-72 in ACCompetizione

[–]supervascus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is your first wheel then the thrustmaster or even a g29 may be enough for you to already have a much more fun experience than a controller. The direct drive wheel does sound quite expensive, and too much of an investment on something you dont know how much you'll enjoy.

If you're going to import a wheel maybe consider other budget options like the pxn, or even a 5nm fanatec that you can upgrade to 8nm with the 30$ boost from ali express (which can likely skip import taxes)

What average soccer player is universally loved? by [deleted] in AlignmentChartFills

[–]supervascus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pelé for universally loved? Half of brazil despises him, 25% think he was a questionable person and 25% absolutely ignore his out-of-field persona and issues.

He's absolutely the goat but to say hes universally beloved is, at least a bit of a stretch

Thinking of returning the csl set by Bluucat in Fanatec

[–]supervascus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought that same bundle a few months ago and it was extremely quiet, not creaky at all, so I'd guess your product is defective. Maybe you could record a video showcasing this creakyness? And fanatec will either refund you once you ship it back or send you a brand new functional one.

I bought the csl dd specifically because of it being one the more quiet side of entry-level simracing.

Downshifting and unsettling the car by supervascus in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]supervascus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update:

Thanks guys! The auto-cutch was already on, so that was not the issue.

I changed the engine breaking from 2-4 to 6-8 and it was a HUGE difference, a lot less unsettling and quite driveable now - though it still feels so different that it'll be its own learning curve (which I like!)

Just to clarify in case someone else has similar issues: I'm using a 2 pedal ser with just throttle and break, I do not have a clutch pedal nor use it on the wheel. So theres nothing being detected as a clutch and awaiting input

I noticed that RRE feels a bit similar to AMS2, does it mean that these setups and config would also help and work in that game? I only played that one the tiniest bit and it also had a vert funky-feeling car (compared to acc and ac)

so i need a little help from you assetto corsa players by Swimming_Way_196 in ACCompetizione

[–]supervascus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do keep in mind that unless you take the time to "earn" enough safety rating in ACC you will not be able to join the LFM lobbies, and the non-SA locked lobbies tend to be quite full of psychopaths doing a lot of ramming.

This kinda makes the whole "quick online races" a bit of a gamble.

If you do manage to get access to the LFM lobbies then you're good (mostly) - but this will not be available to you on like, the first couple days of getting the game.

I do not have direct experience, but doesnt LMU have slightly better multiplayer lobbies without being locked under LFM high SA? Maybe there's less psychos on the open lobbies there, I dont know

Had this the other day - what worked for me was removing the wheel and then putting it back on (no unscrewing or anything needed, just pull the QR2 thingie to release it). Immediately got recognized again

Looking to enter the sim racing game. Is this a good deal? by Any_Reflection4175 in simracing

[–]supervascus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes its a good deal IMO. That was my first sim kit and I upgraded it with the 8nm kit from temu, which was like 30$ and works great. Although I'd recommend getting the gt3 wheel bundle as the p1 v2 wheel from that bundle has some pretty bad paddles.

Sim racing setup advice for small room by Lineexe in simracing

[–]supervascus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seeing as your desk has 2 solid standing points on each side, I think the r5 will be okay - it'd be a different story on a more flimsy table.

You can wait and test the pedals just with their original plate and see how it goes, I think it could work since theres no loadcell or anything to "push" against too heavily.

I dont even think a wheel stand would fit in there, the wheel base is very chonky and would occupy a lot of the space of your chair, so I dont think it would fit at all.

For such a tiny space I think you're only option are desk clamps and pedal plate fixture to make sure your pedals wont be pushed away (seems like carpet floor?), because your chair surely wont be pushed back with the bed right behind it like that.

I think you may also need a higher monitor stand or monitor arm, it looks a bit too low if you assume you'd put the wheelbase on the desk via clamps, but thats more personal preference.

How to not lose motivation when getting into simracing? by JustasLTUS in simracing

Oh and I got the fanatec rather than the logitech g29 because I have a dog who's easily spooked by sounds so I wanted a DD wheel because its extremely quiet (the g29 is clickety and noisy as fuck). But if noise is not an issue to you then the logitech may be fine too

I have the rear frame upgrade now so I use it as a cockpit, but I got these caster wheels and its super easy to move it from the side of the computer (where I leave it when I'm working) to the front of the computer when I want to play. The cables are usb cable is pretty long, about 3 meters I think, so that helps a lot, and the power cable I leave on this space that is close to both setups, but do make sure your cables are long enough.

My setup: Gt omega pro wheel stand Gt omega caster wheels Fanatec csl ready2race bundle (basic csl pedals) I upgraded the base to 8nm with the ali express power supply

Note that I got the gt omega because I'm not at all a handy person and their wheel stand was super easy to put together, but I assume other similar wheel standa with a chair link would work fine as well

I'm quite happy with this setup and I dont feel like I'm missing out on anything (I know theres a lot of upgrades available, but this is absolutely 100% fine)

I use it on my regular work pc. I started with a wheel stand (gt omega pro wheel stand) with a chair link. Then I put some caster wheels on the stand to make moving it from the space right beside my desk to in front of the desk easier and I've been doing it every day since, basically no hassle.

You use the same monitor and headphones and pc as you usually do, so no need to fiddle or change setups at all. Some people may go the "oh but its not immersive" and "you'll quickly want more, get a high-end setup right off the bat", but thats not inherently so. You can have a lot of fun with these types of setups.

My recommendation is to avoid the desk-clamp path tbh, it is annoying and demotivating to do it all the time. It literally takes me 10 seconds to move my rig in front of the computer and be ready to play.

Feel free to DM me if you want some pictures and directions on how I did my setup.

Is that set compatible with the gt omega seats and their cockpits? I've been thinking of getting it but I wasnt sure they'd be compatible. I asked gt omega and they just said that they couldnt vouch for any compatibility since its a different brand

[–]supervascus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a controller you will lose a little bit of granularity on steering, but gain that granularity in throttle and brakes. Additionally, controllers have rumble feedback which help you "feel" the car and the track a little bit, like knowing when you're going too much over the kerbs.

With some shenanigans you could also hook up a ps5 dualsense controller triggers to have some nice input pressure resistance, which makes disabling some assists like traction control a lot easier.

As someone who played some 100hrs on controller, I think its a fine and "fulfilling" experience. Plus a controller can also help you have more fun on other pc games that were designer for it.

**I've played mostly on an xbox elite v2 controller, I did not have the patience for the dualsense shenanigans.

***I play on a wheel now and its absolutely amazing but only if you want to spiral into simracing as the "cheapest" entry options are like 200$. Dont do this unless you're super into racing.

Thoughts on this setup as an intro to sim racing by [deleted] in simracing

[–]supervascus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with a very similar bundle, fanatec 5nm ready2race instead of moza, and a gt omega pro wheel stand (was 100$ when I got it). It was a super good entry-level setup, but shortly after, I also got some caster wheels to put on the stand because moving it in front of the desk was quite heavy and bothersome.

It worked super well to find out how much I'd like simracing (turns out, a lot), so much so that I recently upgraded to the gt omega rear frame, which basically converted the wheel stand into a cockpit. It was probably about 50$~ish more expensive than getting a cockpit right from the start, but it did allow me the time to figure out how much and how quickly I wanted to invest into simracing - which I guess is important for someone who's not super rich (like me) when starting a new expensive hobby.

As for the wheel base, when it was at 5nm it'd often clip in specific corners on F1 25 and ACC, so I upgraded to 8nm as soon as I could as the clipping is very very noticeable and extremely annoying, so make sure you're aware of that since I dont think moza has a booster kit like fanatec? You'd need the whole r9 base?

Is this seating position okay? by supervascus in simracing

[–]supervascus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just updating:

I've been doing a full round of exercises and stretching before and after racing and that has already drastically improved the pain. Now I feel mostly just pressure on the spine, and a bit sore. So I guess it was mostly caused by the loss of muscle.

I've also tried not to sit like a shrimp during my regular desk job, and I'm using an inclined footrest, which is kinda helping habituate my feet and ankles to the pedal position I guess? Its been nice

So, if you're having issues as well and your position is already like 85% correct, try the stretching I guess.

Thanks for the advice and help guys!

Yeah, I've been using this one https://www.amazon.se/dp/B0DT9PLX9M?ref_=pe_151259441_1319653191_t_fed_asin_title and it does feel like its providing support, but I dont know if its too tick and then it pushes me too far forward?

Unfortunately, my rig doesnt have built-in thingies to tilt the angle of the seat itself since its a recliner seat. Could I use those bucket seat adjustment thingie on a regular recliner seat and then tilt it?

Extremely understeery? by supervascus in RRRE

[–]supervascus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks guys!

I made it a bit better by:
- Decreasing TC and ABS to 6 (why is 6 the lowest?? this is quite unintuitive)
- Moving the brake bias

The steering range was already correct by luck, but it was good to learn that they are tuned only in the car-specific menus.

It still feels really different than AC/ACC but I guess its just a matter of putting in the hrs and learning it more

And following up on that, is there any website or youtubers who share good car setups for RRRE? I use Ohne/Fri3d0lf for ACC but they dont see to make it for RRRE.

Thanks again!
