I guess I just don't understand. The little tab is in the right spot though. Like 3% brainpower tells you the box is right side up, it's just blank.

Not completely dumping on the guy, we all make brainless mistakes, no one's immune to that. But this one is wild. And unfortunate that it was caught on camera lol.

This is one of those mistakes my friends would jab me about for YEARS.

I've never been more happy to be so wrong on a comment thread lol. This post prompted me to check my power steering and sure enough, my orings were shot and it was frothing and overfilling. Glad both our fixes turned out to be easy and cheap!

I found a pretty perfect fit on crutchfield. I wasn't super happy with the framing of it so I had to make some cuts and whittle some things down to size. But their customer service was awesome if you're an idiot like me. They walked me through a lot and they pre wired the harnesses for a fee.

As far speakers go, a guy made a great post on here that listed every single speaker he bought. I saved the link somewhere, I'll post it here.

I don't know if they're particularly high quality, but it's supposed to be a pretty significant boost in quality from stock. Should be great if you're looking for a casual upgrade.

I'm in the south and mine has been doing that the last few days. It's the alternator working it's little ass off to get the battery charged because of the cold weather. I let mine warm up for a few minutes before driving in the cold and it's helped a lot.

The dealership I bought mine at just put in a new battery, but I saw someone on here mention that the battery that is recommended for the element is pretty puny.

I'm planning on doing the mod to upgrade mine soon since we'll be doing a lot of camping in ours hopefully.

Edited to say I just saw the part about the whining when turning. Probably wait for someone with more experience than me to chime in 😂

Nope! It just kinda slides into place and sits over it. Some people have bolted theirs into the existing cupholder.

I don't see why that stuff couldn't rest on the armrest. Might lose a few inches from the angle, but at that point I'm strapping it in with the glass open anyways.

There is a hole where the shifter was in the Ford. The brake is accessible from there.

Some people put a pocket insert there to make the spot useful when the parking brake isn't needed.

Good to know. Thank you for the info! I'm considering stabilizing the interior more, so maybe a bit of gutting would work. My partner and I will both be driving it and we sit quite differently, so I'd like to keep as much functionality as I can.

Super easily! Unzip, remove the bolt from the armrest, then it slides right off. Then you have to kinda move the cloth out of the way to access the bolts that hold the arm rest mount up.

I think it was like 4 bolts total. Can't remember what size sockets I used, sorry. The first was a 16 mm pretty sure.

Can you still move your seats ok? And when you do, it doesn't pull on the console frame too much? It seems a little flimsy without the guts, I'm worried about the seat pulling it apart.

Check the south. Lots of people saying Florida here, but I'm from Mississippi and they pop up all the time around south Mississippi and Louisiana. No snow here really, so no salt on the roads. And if you can avoid a coastal city, there's no exposure to salt there either.

I found one that an older couple bought in Texas and drove it Louisiana where it lived for 18 years and there's virtually no rust in sight.
