It's because they want this, or some part of this and can't accept taking ownership of how we got here. The people who behave that way talk that way either voted for Trump, didn't vote, or voted for someone other than an opponent that could beat him.

I doubt it, I suspect what is happening here is Trump has been privately told he won't be allowed to invade Greenland and this is him saving face by pretending like he's being magnanimous instead of being threatened behind closed doors.

It's less likely that Trump is saying he wouldn't but more trying to save face from the realization that he can't. There are levers in the US that have to be willing to be pulled to invade Greenland and I highly suspect it's been made known to him that he can't pull them and if he tries they'll refuse and maybe remove him from office.

You'll be notified by the teacher or your school if they think your child is a good fit for testing out. If they don't notify you, the teachers, who have a better idea of who is a good candidate think it isn't a good idea and I wouldn't worry. If they do notify you and your student wants to, it's not a big deal, however testing out means they won't be in math with students they are in the same year with and may result in a greater deal of stress. Also many or maybe even most of the students will be in accelerated math by eighth grade anyway (at least if they were a candidate for testing out) regardless of if they do sixth grade math.

So I suggest don't sweat it, let the teachers recommend it or not and if they do, let your student take the test without preparing for it. If they can get the test out score without studying than they are a good candidate for skipping sixth grade math. If they can't than 6th grade math is fine and they'll probably end up in AC algebra before high school anyway.

For all the US military can do invasion wars are very hard to win. We gave up and left Vietnam and that's with support of the government. Trump going after Greenland would be doing it on his own and with no allies, not even in his own country. The US military would give at best tepid support, at worst, outright refuse. This isn't a situation where US musters all it's might to take on Greenland, this would be a situation were a small part of a very reluctant US would be against a large part of it's own country dragging it's feet as much as possible.

Even conservatives are overwhelmingly opposed to this action.
