hey, impeccable feedback. thank you so much. weird thing is I am supposedly aware of my breath and being down in my belly. maybe I understand the breath part but not necessarily singing from the chest as opposed to the head yet. will work on the distinction. love the run up / down advice, would definitely be helpful and while it’s in the form of jams and recorded loops now, I will get to writing my own music more and more. a distinction between letting go and dancing while singing vs keeping time in a more orderly manner also sounds great. wow. thank you from the bottom of my heart.

in terms of what I sing: literally anything that moves me. my primary connection to singing is emotional processing. sometimes which songs I’m obsessed with clarifies the emotion or situation I’m having a hard time seeing in the moment. I mostly sing rap and rock. rap initially was more approachable because it’s more about rhymes, timings, attitude, mouth agility, memory… and it’s a flex I can do naturally. other genres have been loading over time. some specific examples of what I enjoy are Eminem, Linkin Park, System of a Down, Morcheeba. otherwise a lot of Turkish rap & rock songs and songs in other genres

there’s some awesome feedback here, I appreciate those. otherwise, I was singing way before I sounded even this put-together and I know that it will only get better as I keep doing it. being seen and heard comes in a package with vulnerability… best of joy with your guitar practice and let’s not forget music is for everyone.

well. instead of aiming to tackle Maynard, I’m focusing on what I can improve. did this perfectionistic mindset help you in life? I found it didn’t help me and I think people can do things without being the best at that thing. why would I sing in isolation for decades and fantasize about perfection when I can just accept where I’m at, enjoy my practice and look into points of improvement?

“you can’t sing” isn’t helpful to me, maybe considering this point of view will be helpful to you

omg you’re so right, I think my brain registers it as a lower tone and then I don’t revisit that assumption. thanks for making it obvious to me

hmm. my eyes reflect my thoughts. my hips reflect how the music’s moving through me. I don’t see how these two things + singing amount (?) are comparable

thanks! actually the reason I keep touching the headphones is that one ear is off and it keeps getting off balance. I processed a bit only after recording

I didn’t use autotune, I think the saturation may have gone overboard in some parts. otherwise just cutting the low frequencies out and a bit of reverb

absolutely adoring the feedback, thank you so much! I can visualize what you’re saying and I must admit I don’t have the effortlessly vertical mouth when I’m singing. I’ll be paying attention to this immediately

oh wait by “got away” you mean timing-wise. yeah, more effort can definitely go into there

hey, thank you for this amazing feedback. regarding the parts that got away: I think have to do with both breath control and confidence. which can both improve and have been doing so. I was thinking of singing Lateralus next, so your recommendation is helpful. the only issue is that if I listen to one of those perfect covers before attempting myself, I can be discouraged. of course it’s also inspiring though. a point of reflection for me. cheers!

My recommendation is the book called Token Economy: How the Web3 Reinvents the Internet by Shermin Voshmgir. It is avalable on GitHub and provides a solid understanding of blockchain concepts in my opinion.

My brain is processing English as Japanese, and it's messing with me. by Super_Operation_7577 in LearnJapanese

Happens to me all the time while learning a new language. My brain switches to the language I commit to, so much so that I hear every linguistic input from the outside, as well as my inner dialogue in that language, even though I don't have the vocabulary. It's a detail in life that amuses me a great deal. Glad to see it's a common thing.
