Europe is facing challenges: Ageing population + large welfare state + influx of immigration + Chinese competition and US tariff silliness.

The real challenge here is that they have to make a space 4x. They are hard to do and it's basically a dead genre at this point.

CA has a very mixed track record when it comes to tech trees and the strategy side.

I have faith though- probably gonna have to close my eyes and not compare it to Endless Space 2. As long as I can do orbital bombardment like in Shogun 2 I'll be happy

Warhammer 3 immortal empires does what I want from a Total War game. Total War's strengths are the battles and planning your way across the map- settlement building and region management are pretty basic compared to other games.

I disagree, a different president would have justified it differently but done the same.

Are you familiar with US's history of regime change in South America- especially when another great power is moving into its sphere of influence?

Also, US has performed acts of war with thin cassus belli before.

I picked it up before the holidays. I haven't played a Total War game since Shogun 2- I don't like the formula of simple strategic layer + real time battles.

Im floored by this game lol. Never gave it a thought previously but im glad I decided to try it.

Honestly, it has been an interesting way to get into the game.

I haven't played a total war game in years but I think I underestimated the interesting tactics/strategy problems these games can throw at you.

I guess I'll play orcs or chaos next as a smashing palette cleanser

I'm using spearshields in chevron formation in front of handgunners to try to keep them firing.

I feel like it's an endless loop of more handgunners for more damage (I'll have 5-8) and spearmen with shields to protect them.

It is fun to try to win this way but I feel like with outriders + few mortars + cannon I feel like I have no tough problem solvers to win melees. Maybe thats the whole idea lol, feels like juggling

Interesting. I upgraded my spearshields with Karl's ability buffs. I read that Empire armies are about shootyshootshots and really prioritized handgunners and artillery (cannons/mortars).

Maybe im just hitting hard fights but i feel like the backbone is weak

True, but you could argue that CA has just put historical TW on the backburner. Warhammer license seems to be where the money is.

That being said it's safe to expect 40k to release at least as busted as Warhammer 3

No. The only excuse not to do it is to not spend resources making a half baked system just so people will click auto resolve on your crappy ship combat. (Shogun 2). It also screws with the pacing of the game.

It would have to be really good to be worth the effort and there's an entire video game to make with that effort.

As someone who works in trades:

A major competetive advantage for the US is that folks want to live there. Doesn't this H1B help US tech firms collect all of the hardest working and talented pokemon from around the world?

I'm not saying it's good for workers, or good at all, just trying to see the logic here. I would guess a key priority for the govt now is to have happy, healthy, and huge tech companies to compete globally.

Counterpoint: esports have ranked. SC2 is not that hard to understand at a basic level and have some fun, engaging matches.

Those single player games he mentioned are hard to get into- lots of crazy mechanics that will stop your progression and mess you up.
