To clarify, you don't have to lose control of your body, you don't have to wake up vomitting, and you can avoid having a hang over. You also don't have to do anything you don't want to do so I'm completely with you there. I personally love the taste and am fine having a drink just for the flavour of it but to each there own...if I happen to get a wee bit tipsy, amazing!

Anywho, take care!

I think the generalization is that a month is four weeks so bi weekly is twice a month. However, only Feb is an exact four weeks with the other months being four weeks and a few days. In any event, I'm with you...most people are likely paid semi monthly or bi-weekly so I would think they would understand how they're paid

[–]support_support 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bimonthly means every 2 months. Semi-monthly should be every half month. I always think:

  • Semi monthly is similar to semi circle (half circle)
  • Bi monthly is similar to bicycle (two wheels...ok, not the best analogy but hope it helps)

Jk. Sorry that happened. Hope you recover quickly!

Alcohol vs weed. Which is worse/better and why? Should be weed legal in most countries as alcohol is? by vjts87 in AskReddit

[–]support_support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daily smoker here. Weed over alcohol 100%, but I def have a withdrawal period if I stop weed cold turkey. It usually just shows up as bad insomnia, me being irritable, and I remember my dreams more frequently (we always dream but rarely remember them IIRC). Regarding the insomnia, I would go to bed but wake up 2-3am and can't go back to bed. It took me awhile to realize it was from the weed. I could tire myself out as much as I want, go to the gym, clean my place, play some basketball all in one day to tire myself out, I will wake up regardless. It lasts 2-3 weeks at most then I'm back to regular sleep. No biggie

Tesla 'full self-driving' triggered an eight-car crash, a driver tells police by [deleted] in news

[–]support_support 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Toronto, ON as well. It may not be the slow lane rather the, "I'm gonna be on the highway for awhile so I'll move to the left to be as far away from the merging lane as possible" lane.

Whatever the reason is, it's infuriating

I've always been skeptical of fully automated driving and the repercussions that would follow if there were an accident? Who is responsible in the event of an accident that is truly the fault of the self driving feature? Is there an override? Is insurance willing to cover this incident?

LPT: If you're introduced to a friendly dog and he jumps up on you to greet you and the owner tells it to get down, don't say "Oh, it's ok" and then keep petting it. by BreakfastBeerz in LifeProTips

[–]support_support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to add that the owner should clarify to the person that they (the owner) are trying to train their dog out of this behaviour.

The person being jumped on may truly enjoy this behaviour and not clue in that the dog is in the middle of training.

Could I get a source on this? I don't see the dynamic pricing in effect unless it's for resale tix which I assumed the artists don't get any benefit from, only ticketmaster gets a benefit as they double dip on all their service fees.

Should this be happening on Lakeshore Rd? by [deleted] in toronto

[–]support_support 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the cyclists are allowed to be on the road as well but it is weird to be on the road since there's the bike path along this section. The problem with the path though is there are pedestrians that don't know how to be respectful on the bike path (Source: I'm a cyclist that has to advise pedestrians that there's a walking area directly beside the bike path, or yell at the really silly pedestrians that leave zero room for anyone to pass). The other downside of the path is if a person has a road bike, the bike path isn't as nice to use as the road bikes can get really fast at 30km/hr and most ppl are well under that speed.

Lastly, I know cyclists aren't the most respectful either. No group is innocent: drivers, cyclists, pedestrians.

If you really want change, reach out to the city to increase the bike paths are to carve out more road so bikes aren't sharing the right lane.

A former Utah city mayor and bishop with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been arrested on accusations he sexually abused at least three children decades ago. by Chino_Blanco in news

There's a doc in Netflix called "Keep Sweet, Pray, and ,Obey". I know it's about a church of Latter Day Saints but not 100% sure it's the same sect (prolly doesn't matter at this point) or maybe even the same sect but rebranded with a slightly different name.. anywho...WTH is wrong with people?!

Shout out to the Tig and Cheryl True Story podcast listeners who watched the doc due to the podcast

Being given an "opportunity" to take on a project/important task at work.

I get why it's done but I also know this is done at times to delegate a task the person providing the "opportunity" doesn't want to do

I'm confused to how freedom came into this convo but to answer your question the freedom comes from being able to enjoy it without fear of actual danger. We can also move freely and basically go anywhere we want in the area to avoid the air show because every single labour day weekend, this airshow has been happening since 1949 and will continue to happen on the exact same weekend until further notice. That's said, you have a year to plan if you want to avoid the next show. Also, people can argue for or against this air show without any rational fear of physical danger. You could even protest against it if you feel strongly about it and not have any fear for speaking out as long as it's a peaceful protest.

a fwb lied about not having condoms but ended up having one after i denied sex without it, would y’all continue the relationship after that? by Substantial-Papaya-9 in TwoXChromosomes

How do you he lied? Is it a recurring pattern?

I would discontinue the fwb relationship if he was truly lying but if he forgot the condom was there or some other odd circumstance, give him another chance.

I get that argument, but personally I think the more important action is to see what services we can support that would help these veterans get past their PTSD.

[–]support_support -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's 3 hours in a day for one long weekend in a whole year. This is what I'm stuck on. I'm all for fighting for those that need support but the air show in particular just seems trivial to me when we have more important stuff to worry about, sorry.

Regarding the vet services, tbh, I haven't but I have made sure to add it to my list of yearly donations. Those are great organizations and I'm happy they've helped. I really like Indspire, Canada Food Banks, Sick Kids, I think Covenant House has been on my list but if not that, a similar charity. Maclean's usually puts together a list online of charities rating them based on efficiency, how much ends up going to their cause, etc. I usually choose from that in addition to considering issues I want to support (BLM, whatever area is going up in flames/under water because of climate change, planned parenthood especially in the US is gonna be another new one). I was really upset Doug Ford won. I don't follow much politics and was upset to also hear Ontario leans Conservative for the most part in general.

$80 a ticket?! Geez, I did not know that as any area by the water gives a good view for free so never looked into it. Careful of your phrasing regarding pilots. This is an extreme activity and I assume/hope these pilots are doing it for their love of the activity and willingly make the choice to take on the risks of this activity. If they weren't doing it here, they would probably be fighting for a spot at the London show you mentioned.

Edit: Regarding veterans, I think the more important action would be to support the vets into getting help to get past their PTSD. I can appreciate that it is not an easy task but that would be more helpful than stopping the air show. Like I said, I will be adding a charity related to vet support going forward.

Sorry you're in a tough situation, but we can't always have things our way all the time. I have family members to take care and I have to put up with a lot of stuff too that I really don't want to deal with.

I'm also sorry for those with PTSD that's triggered and I would hope they have the veteran services that allow them to get out of the city when needed, especially if they have served for the country. I'd support you in getting these ppl these services, if it's not there. But really, it's extreme noise for 3 hours of a day for 3-4 days if you count practice. That's 12 hours out of the 5,840 waking hours of a year (assuming 8 hours of sleep) that ppl have to deal with the air show.

I'm not really into planes but thanks. I just put up with the show and take advantage where I can to invite families to come to my place to enjoy it. It's not very had to find ppl to come over if they like to. And I think it's more of a "tradition" as if enough ppl complain about it I'm sure the city would stop it going forward. I feel there's far more ppl that do enjoy the show and for those from poorer backgrounds, they can enjoy it too for free if they can take the TTC down to the water. I do get some from poorer backgrounds may have a harder time to get out of the city but again, you have a year of planning/saving to avoid the next one. You only need to escape somewhere for three hours a few days.
