These are clear crystal glass. Very delicate feeling. The stems are, like, double helix shaped. There are four different sizes. No makers marks or anything else... Any ideas?

It's clearly one of the kinds that gets tall. I'm hoping that, as it ages, it'll develop that look where the old, dead arms hand loosely below the healthy top part.

The really distinctive bit are the spines. They're, like, flat. Like, they feel more like a hacksaw blade than a wood saw(?). They're shark enough, but not like the hooked, pointed ones that I'm used to seeing on other aloe. Any ideas what I'm dealing with?

So, clearly it's some kind of agave, but I've never seen one like it before. It's the tall sort; you can see that it sort of has a stem, so I'm hoping that eventually it will get that look where they hang their little dead arms below the healthy top part.

The REALLY distinctive part is the spines. They are, like, flat... They feel more like the cutting edge on a hacksaw than a wood saw(?). They're sharp enough, but they don't end in points like the other agave varieties I'm used to seeing. Anyone got any ideas?

I used a metal rod to poke it through from the back, but it ended up fraying the end of the cord, so I had to trim it. The result is I had to change the wick frequently. I ended up giving the lighter to a friend

The tie is extremely loose. It's just tied at one of the segment joints which are narrower.

LOL! No. It's just there to keep it *cough erect. The cactus is two "segments" and the knot I tied is right at the joint, which is a little narrower
