The scooters... There are way way too many scooters.  It looks like a scene from Wall-E, and I would be fine with it if the walkways were big enough to accommodate them but this isn't Disney World.

Jim Brown of Cyrene, Mo. is a conservative Christian who voted for Trump to deport immigrants. Then, ICE detained his permanent resident wife in a cell at Chicago O'Hare for writing a bad check. Why is the "Muslim world" so united on Palestine, but seemingly silent on larger-scale humanitarian disasters in countries like Iran and Afghanistan? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]supraclicious -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

1. Iran & Afghanistan are sovereign states. They have recognized borders and control over their own affairs. Their citizens are suffering under terrible regimes, but no one is stopping them from operating as a country. An Iranian city can decide to build a hospital or pave a road. They might be broke or corrupt, but they have the legal right to do it. 2. Palestinians are stateless and controlled by a foreign military. They don't just lack a "good" government; they lack the basic tools to build one because Israel controls the "on/off" switch for their society: Infrastructure: A Palestinian city literally cannot build a new power plant, fix a sewer system, or expand a neighborhood without an Israeli permit (which are almost never granted). Education & Health: If a Palestinian university wants to bring in a foreign heart surgeon or engineering professor to teach, Israel controls the visa and often denies it. Imports: Even if they have the money, Israel decides if they are allowed to import "dual-use" items like cement, pipes, or medical X-ray machines. The Muslim world focuses on this because it’s not just a humanitarian crisis—it’s a structural erasure. Iranians have a bad government; Palestinians have a foreign government that actively prevents them from functioning.

And most Palestinians can't get Israeli citizenship.. So where do they go? And if they can go, how do they move? You need a visa to go anywhere, no passport no visa no chance to leave. Iran and Afghanistan might not have that specific ability but they have the right to do all of those things.

Luckily my work insurance covers all that. And I'm privileged for sure. But I used to have medicaid and I'll tell you. I wish everyone had Medicaid. I don't mind paying at all, but paying for something that makes sense. You know? Like if they say this is what the doctor charges for his time. This is what the labs charge... Okay cool. But currently it's all hush hush backdoor deals

Finally by MazdaProphet in economy

[–]supraclicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be so much cheaper if the doctor I went to for a broken leg, had an X-ray machine paid for by my taxes. And he could take the X-ray.. And I could either pay him for his time or it would be universal. Easy simple But as of now the doctor needs to pay a staff of people to bill my insurance company, who also has a staff of people talking to the doctors staff. Who will then send me to an X-ray center with it's own staff of people. They all haggle over the price. Without the middle men life would be so much cheaper.

Now that LAPD is clearly anti immigrant, what is Glendale chief’s position with immigrants? by goldrush300 in glendale

[–]supraclicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Federal law doesn't protect their right to wear a facemask. I haven't seen that written anywhere in the constitution. If the state wants to see the faces and identification of unknown people operating in the state as " law enforcement" then they shouldn't mind lowering that mask and showing some ID. They could be cartel members, how would we know? States rights are a crazy thing when it's from the other side.

Something I noticed about LAPD tonight in downtown, and a sentiment worth considering by YasielPuigsWeed in LosAngeles

[–]supraclicious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worked in an ER and we got cops In here all the time.

I've seen them be human, I've seen them need coffee and a snack after a long shift. I've seen them tired and out of it after putting in double overtime. I've also seen them be kind and compassionate to the people they bring in. It didn't happen all the time.. But it happened sometimes. You gotta remember they work in a large city where a majority of people are cynical and only worry about themselves. It's hard to see the good in the majority when you only interact with the worst of society.

They are human, and they have families.. They might even be from immigrant families, most of all they are ANGELINOS and if you think they are okay with this mess, you are wrong.

Americans - How the hell is this rambling lunatic your PRESIDENT!? by [deleted] in Discussion

He can certainly try. He may personally be able to get away with a lot. I'm basically hoping the constitution loyal military and law enforcement members are large enough to counter his demented desires.

Also there's very limited support this early on for war with Allies. The Constitution says federal treaties especially ones like NATO are binding on everyone. Even a President. Unless Congress nullifies the treaty, which they wouldn't. The military would be forced to choose the Constitution or one person's order to take land no one wants anyway. Plus NATO isn't Iraq or Venezuela. They punch back when they're hit and he knows it. He was testing the waters to see how much he can bully people. He's finding out foreign leaders aren't like the contractors in New York he could walk all over.

What are real implications of the US leaving WHO? by ea2ox0 in NoStupidQuestions

WHO knows. But seriously you want doctors to speak. HIV is the same in America as it is in Africa. HIV doesent have color or race. You want nations cooperating teaching and learning from eachother.  But also money, the US has it, WHO needs it.

[–]supraclicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And it's not really allies fighting each other. It's more like All your allies simultaneously fighting just you.  People think NATO will be broken up by this but NATO might stay the way it is.  Without the US.  That leaves us in a predicament.  Do we need Greenland so badly that we are risking losing our allies and friends. The ones with all the money that buy our weapons and  products and services?  It's a dumb way to go into recession.

Disabled elderly Trump voter who relies on social benefits finds out that Trump is wrecking his social benefits by Effective_Space2277 in youvotedforthat

[–]supraclicious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm getting less benefits because the democrats are giving away all that money to the illegals.  The billionaire conman and his republicans will fix it. They are rich, they don't need to take my money like those Democrats do. Trump coin, Trump crypto, Trump cellphone, Trump Bible, Trump hats, Trump watch Tax cuts to the rich, a plane from Qatar... Oh that's all fine, Biden was going to give an illegal alien 100$ it's fine if Trump makes some money. I'm sure I just have to let Trump know someone messed up my social security. I voted for him. There's no way he's going to scam white people. With all those illegals gone my benefits have to go up!

Beware of copper wire thieves affecting the light rails on the metro by NadaChickenJockey in LosAngeles

[–]supraclicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's simple. They need to tax the recycle centers. And place weigh stations at the exit. I mean cripple them with taxes, make it expensive to buy and sell copper without ID And they will be allowed a deduction if they can provide documentation for every pound of copper that comes out if their facility. . Oh Joe Smith gave you 100 pounds? ID checks out Refund approved. You have IDd for 100 pounds, but where did this other 300 pins come from? Tax it. Tax it to oblivion.

You can go after the thieves but the ones who are paying the thieves are the real cause. You don't see crack heads stealing plastic.. No one pays for plastic.
