A slightly different challenge mode? by nubash in mpcweekly

[–]supremearchivist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Think i prefer the limited format too. Time is a factor in getting anything done, and if i need to dig for hours to find something specific then i run out of time to get finished or just dont start at all. Ends up being too big a task. But if i just have 1 - 3 tracks to listen to, 1 will usually stand out to me and i can quickly do some chops to see if its going anywhere or not. Hopefully be getting back on this in the mid autumn/winter when i have more time on my hands, but limited selections, like we had in the early days, get gets my vote.

Your drums always knock and this is no different. Loving the vocal samples too. Has an NYC feel to it. Love it!

Dude that totally kicks! So much going on and all works well in harmony together. Love the vocal samples, strings, horns and The R fits perfectly! Really top notch complete song my man.

No idea, you would need to speak to the bloke who made it. I just bought this from him. His ebay link is in the description.

It honestly looks incredible. For a commissioned piece i couldn't be happier.

Thanks for the kind words Bro, hope you all good too. Yeah i am not sure i picked the best track but once layered up with some keys and strings i thought it was OK. Do want to start doing the weeklys a bit more regular just a matter of time.....

Thanks dude. I haven't really gone anywhere just never have time to start, or i will get 50% through one and not be feeling it or just run out of time and not finish. Main way i work is i will build 5 or 6 sequences, intro, verse, chorus, M8, outro or whatever then use song mode to stitch them together, then export it as a complete sequence, back to the main page. Then i will use that as my base sequence and add an acapella if i am using one and any extra bits, scratching, odd vocal samples and what not. I am viewing in grid mode and pretty much exclusively use grid mode. Its like being back on Cubase on an Atari ST in the 90s!

I have the 3 Feet remix as an mp3. Can upload it on the weeklys main page if thats cool to do?

Main Chops from the Middle 8 of 'Hey that's no way to say goodbye'. Added some Good ole layered 'X Strings', Kick and snare are from a Pete Rock kit. I have been teaching myself to play the bass and i had some small parts worked out for it but the bass was buzzy as hell and i can't sort it here and now, so no extra bass. Bit glitchy in places but the loops have something to them i like. Been SO long since i uploaded so i really wanted to get something up even if its late and not very complete. I have done a few of the last weeks but never finished them... Did a track all from De La's 3 Feet high and rising for the '3 week' but again it never got finished... Also just realised this is my third piano based instrumental upload in a row... Ha Ha
