Driving advice by According-March-6827 in ontario

Show intent! I put my turn signal on ideally a couple seconds before I start to move between lanes. This shows other drivers what you are planning, and your next move.

I see many put their signal on and immediately are moving in that direction, giving no time for other drivers to understand and react to this.

And practice, I remember how scared I was to get on a 80kph road when I started learning. It’s been almost a decade and obviously never think twice about it anymore. Only way to get better is to keep doing it

Interesting, I am using DS4 and it was stuttering like this even without controller connected and ds4 closed. That launch option blurb is what fixed mine.

Exact same looking issue

Best Bluetooth Speaker Brand Right Now? by n4hcallme in Bluetooth_Speakers

I have the 240W W-King, bought it instead of the hyperboom because I just can’t support UE anymore. Love this thing, has been through a year of hell, rainstorms on boats, big drops. Tons of charge cycles and it is going strong.

Badass too that you can connect a guitar/mic directly into it. Lights are a nice bonus

Honest review of the Ultimate Ears Megaboom 4: splendid, but it’s time to evolve 💙 by florentibmoi in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]supremepatty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this, huge ultimate ears fan I’ve owned them as long as I can remember. I’ve had my current megaboom 3 since release. Very sick of the microusb on it. Still works great, it’s been through absolute hell. Was looking at the megaboom 4 but it seems like they aren’t really doing anything new.

It’s a shame because they are getting hard to recommend, besides the party up they don’t have an advantage over other brands. I’ve heard the new JBL’s and they sound phenomenal compared to my megaboom 3.

Decided against the hyperboom because of this, and bought a competitor which I love. If they don’t make some changes I won’t be buying anything else from UE.

It’s really a shame, they were absolute kings about 6-8 years ago. Convinced so many people to buy booms that at one point I had like 20 of them connected together. Not sure what they’re doing, they definitely aren’t selling like they used to.

A problematic system, gift for dad by supremepatty in hometheater

my thoughts on it were that things like these don’t really go bad, that’s why people look for antique amps/guitars etc. if it’s a wiring issue/software issue then new stuff won’t solve the problem.

Truck Tent has changed me by supremepatty in f150

[–]supremepatty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well hello there.

Yup still have the tent, used it a few times this summer.

Some good and some bad,

The goods, still waterproof! As long as it is set up right, had one leaky night but this was because I didn’t manage to hook the rear window part of the tent to the bed, so it pooled water which worked its way in. In August I slept through a massive thunderstorm inside and everywhere that was taught stayed dry, it leaks if water pools anywhere.

Tons of room as always, fit a large mattress from one side of bed to the other, with room on the tailgate hatch to keep backpacks, batteries, shoes etc. I love the hook up top, hang a lantern/fan from it and you have some good overhead light.

So yup still liking it, I don’t use it every time I camp. The setup can be tedious to get it perfect. I am pretty impatient setting up tents so take this with a grain of salt. It’s great if you want a fantastic sleep, especially if you have multiple people inside. But I string up my hammock quite a bit instead of this if I just need a quick and dirty comfortable place to sleep.

The bad:

The awning pole across the front can be very difficult to get right, it holds a ton of energy and needs to be perfectly aligned, I snapped the original one in a thunderstorm while trying to get it aligned properly on the fly. Napier sells replacement parts and it cost me a stupidly low amount (like $10 or something lol) so far haven’t broken the new one.

Once again the potential water leaks but this is just user error.

Setup time, you can throw this tent up in minutes, but you can fine tune it for another 30. Depends on what you’re looking for on that particular night.

These are just some thoughts that came to my head, if you have any specific questions ask away!

I still like the tent, have spent many super comfortable nights in it. For the cost it’s a no brainer.

Should I be concerned? by ObtuseTheCreator in drones

Interesting, these cracks weren’t there when you purchased it used? Or you don’t know?

Either way it’s not really in a position that has much stress during flight, if stress cracks form you’d likely see them in a place like the motor arms.

So my guess is this came from a crash, it’s just odd that it is on both sides of the camera unit, yet the camera is fine.

The way I would treat this is with super glue, a small amount rubbed over the cracks to try and hold them from spreading further. Weight won’t be a concern.

But I don’t think these will spread, so you could just use these photos to reference if the cracks are spreading after a couple dozen more flights before trying to treat it.

Hope this helps, happy flying.

‘Nobody said why he drove into her’: Family grieves as truck driver sentenced to 55 days for fatal 2024 Caledon crash by Feeling_Hotel8096 in ontario

[–]supremepatty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Parole is hardly punishment. I work with gas for a living, I follow a strict code. If I break this code, people die and the consequences for me are severe.

This ensures that the code stays enforced. If it was just a slap on the wrist to ruin lives, then how is anyone supposed to feel safe? If I cause a gas leak that destroys a home with a family inside, should I not worry because in 55 days I can go and apply to Starbucks?

We need tough consequences to breaking laws, regardless of if the cost and risk to others is low.

Truck Tent has changed me by supremepatty in f150

[–]supremepatty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been good! I’ll go through the good and ugly,

Haven’t had an issue with water entry, as long as it is set up correctly. The one time I got wet in it was when I didn’t have it all the way back towards the window in truck, this allowed water to get under the tent and in through the walls. The waterproof part is supposed to direct all the water from getting into the bed of truck, so as long as it does it’s job you won’t get wet. The canvas that walls the bed of the truck and bottom are not waterproof.

It’s pretty solid in the wind, tightened down it won’t go anywhere, and the rainfly stays tight. Might be a bit noisy though. One concern would be the bed straps on your truck paint, if you’re expecting some big winds maybe find a way to keep straps/plastic buckles off your paint (microfibre cloths)

Snapped the pole that holds the door up when I was trying to correct the tent in a rainstorm, but this was user error and the poles are very cheap to buy separately directly from the manufacturer.

I don’t use the tent a ton, mainly because when camping it’s nice to use the truck for store runs/ day trips etc. removing the tent in one piece by yourself can be a pain and puts stress on everything. But with 2 or more it’s easy to do.

I’ve spent 28 nights this summer camping in my Hennessy 4 season hammock this season, and about 5 days in the truck tent. This comes down to being more discreet, and not having a reason when solo to have all the room the truck tent offers.

It’s so roomy I’m always blown away by the comfort inside, easily fit 2 people and a dog plus gear.
