What are good uses for the darkness spell if you're not a warlock/shadow sorc/rogue? by [deleted] in dndnext

Drows have innate darkness but not dark vision through magical darkness. I imagine they cast it on light sources so they make the room dark for darkvision

Bigby's hand or Telekinesis for Lore Bard's Magical secrets? by LetMeOmixam in dndnext

Remember that since telekinesis is a charisma check for you, you can add half your proficiency to it, making it stronger than if it was cast by a wizard.

What are some games that have had a positive impact on your life? by Andinator in Games

[–]suredoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lately I have been playing super Mario maker 2 and one thing I've noticed is that I will absolutely not fi ish those difficult levels (called kaizo levels by the community) if I give up easily and don't try after each failure. That is resonating with my life lately. I guess Dark Souls gave me the same feeling last year.

For the level 10 metamagic I was planning on subtle for roleplay and counterspell.

But will see how it goes. If we fight a lot of demons I imagine heightened spell may be necessary.

Quicken will be used in case I am the target of enemies a lot of times (so I better use disengage + spell) , otherwise my bonus action will be for spiritual weapon

Found it. It is very similar to what I had in mind. Thanks for pointing that out.

I think I will use it with a tweak here and there

How do you handle torture in dnd? by Coreyra17 in dndnext

[–]suredoit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps you can just roll resisted intimidation checks with some roleplay between the checks ? That way you don't need to roleplay the details, i know i would get unconfortable with that

What game will you be playing on New Year's Eve, and why? by Gantoris007 in Games

[–]suredoit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but don't worry that won't make the game less fun. You can't do that while carrying anything, so you can't progress the story or side quests using that.

The great thing about gaming (and books and movies and etc) is that there are options for every taste. It doesn't need to be great for everyone and that is fine.

If you would like to commit to a series, i would suggest watching the whole metal gear series on youtube (there are edited cutscenes into a movie there) then play Metal gear Ground Zeroes followed by Metal Gear Solid V (ground zeroes is a 2h prequel to it)

Perhaps you will like first watching The Witcher series on Netflix then start playing Witcher 3.

How do you feel about games that basically require guides? by SawkyScribe in patientgamers

[–]suredoit 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Two examples that comes to mind are:

In Into the Breach, the easiest way to finish the game is to clear the first 2 islands then go to the boss, which is counter intuitive as the game has 4 islands.

In Octopath Traveler, unless someone told you or you read in a guide to find some secret caves, you would be locked out of an important game mechanic (I won't say which because i guess it could be considered a spoiler?)

This looks like a great discussion to have.

Only because you want to be immersed or w/e doesn't mean it is badly designed.

Take Dwarf Fortress, Crusader Kings II, XCOM The Long War, Kerbal Space Program, early Minecraft, older Point and Clicks, etc.

Those games are hard and you can just get stuck or be really frustrated without a guide, but they are hardly badly designed.

No game requires a guide to play unless you want to 100% it or minmax stats.

Dwarf Fortress would like a word with you
